Our crack team of contentologists has been hard at work mining the rich ores of the EA games catalog for more bonus materials, and we've brought a lot of new bonus content up for you. Note that there are no expansion packs in this crop of bonus materials, but we think you'll like it anyway:

Wing Commander: Privateer bonus materials now include production documents that were created when the game was being made (concept art & early designs for the manual, summaries of the missions, full script, Privateer The Series Bible, and much more), avatars, wallpapers, and a lot of other artwork.

Dungeon Keeper now includes design sketches of various monsters, photos of the dev team, a high resolution wallpaper, and an avatar in its bonus materials.

In addition to that Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Magic Carpet, and Ultima Underworld 1+2 are getting new avatars added to their bonus content as well.

If you already bought the games, you can download the bonus materials for free by going to My account -> My games and clicking any of the game boxes. If you happen to not have this batch of EA titles, be sure to grab them now!

As usual, if you have any content for games we already released, please contact us at users@gog.com and we'll see about getting it approved from our partners. ;)
At first I thought you were talking about expansion packs. To see that it was just wall papers, avatars, and artwork was just disappointing.

I'm looking forward to a Gold Edition of Sid Meire's Alpha Centauri that includes the Alien Crossfire Expansion. What's galling is that I can buy it from Amazon for $18.50 + shipping-and-handling. I would really like to make this purchase from GOG, but I'm not going to buy the vanilla version of the game.

As soon as you get Sid Meire's Alpha Centauri + Alien Crossfire Expansion Gold Edition, I will make the purchase.

Sylenall: I honestly don't see anything newsworthy about this.

People are upset that EA's games came with no expansions. Not that they were missing avatars or something equally useless.

Sorry if that's harsh, but it's disappointing to read about an EA content "breakthrough" when it's nothing that really matters.
I want the expansions too. I'm not upset, but I probably won't buy any games that aren't complete yet. Especially if I don't know if they are going to be completed or not, since I like playing games and their expansions fairly close together in time if I can. So they're probably losing a lot of sales to people like me, and I understand that people are upset. I hope that they'll bring the expansions and I know that it will net them a lot more sales.

All that said though - this isn't "newsworthy"? That is such a typical "This didn't appeal to me personally, so nobody should read it"-thing. Realize that the world doesn't revolve around you. A lot of people here do care a lot about the extras - in fact, I'd say that I buy games here as much for the extras as for the games. It's fine with me if you don't care about them as I do - just realize that your opinion isn't the only one that matters.

Also, as Fuzzyfireball said, you're the only one talking about a "content breakthrough" here. The newspost just says "New bonus materials." It's far from the first time I've seen someone accuse GOG for overhyping small things, then just putting words in their mouths and exaggerating what they said.

It seems people don't realize that, afaik, GOG has little control over the expansion issue. If they (they being a relatively small team at that) could release it, they would, based on the idea that many people are holding off and waiting for Alien Crossfire, Deeper Dungeons, etc. Do you guys have any explanations as to why GOG wouldn't release even if they legally could?

There have been a few posts suggesting that this is getting sorted out, which would, of course, be really nice. I wonder if the offer has been made to bump up the games + new expansions to $10, and let those who already purchased buy the expansion for $3.99. Either way, it's interesting that those who hold the rights aren't interested in re-releasing and making extra money.

I don't blame those who would rather purchase the full game or expansion from Amazon; as I've said in the past that's your right. I was going to suggest buying the main game here and purchasing the expansion elsewhere, but something like Alien Crossfire really isn't sold separately at a reasonable price (that would save one money), is it?

No crap, of course GOG has little control over the expansion issue. Just because GOG doesn't have great control doesn't mean customers can't or shouldn't complain. The point is to complain to let GOG know there is an issue so that they can solve it when control becomes available. If we don't complain, then GOG can't fix an issue it doesn't know about or know is still important.

EA is a giant behemoth of a corporation. It's not that they aren't interested in making money, they probably don't realize there is an opportunity in this niche to make one in the first place.

I brought up Amazon because I don't like the fact that Sid Meire's Alpha Centauri + Alien Crossfire Expansion is available there while at the same time, not available here. I should, in the first place, be able to buy it from GOG as easily as Amazon. It's the same pet peeve I have with finding music that can only be downloaded from itunes, but not Amazon.
Bonus material is nice, but I, like so many others, was hoping for all the expansion packs.
I hope we'll get some good news on this in the not so distant future...
