I have this vague recollection of the last patch or so for the game apparently causing many an issue and some aghast forum folk.

Anybody more in tune with the NWN scene able to attest to anything or correct my possibly faulty memory?

I too would certainly buy a well-wrought GoG release for it, as I definitely missed out on it back in the day same as pretty well all of the recent assortment of D&D games.
I have NWN Diamond and it works fine on Win 7 x64. Tested it out with a campaign as well as a virtual world. It should be noted I installed the most recent Community Expansion Pack, however.

Ah, so it might well be a ToEE/Co8 style situation then(Well, kinda..)? I'm pretty sure it was the final official patch that caused the handwringing alongside them pulling down those module/DLC things that were being sold...

I have it installed on my Win7 64 bit system and have no issues. Latest patch (version 1.69), tons of mods, as well as the latest CEP (and I run the CEP updater fairly regularly too). I play pretty much solely on my favorite PW, but have tested a couple modules briefly and they seem to work fine.

I know there were reports on the old BioWare forums of issues with both Vista and Win7, but keep in mind that people tend to only post when they're having problems, not when everything runs smoothly. Anyway, it works fine on my rig.
