What do you think are the chances that we will get it on gog, so we can complete the forgotten realms game series after they release bg2? Is there a way we can start a petition to get it?
Not going to happen as long as the game is available elsewhere for much more than GOG's limited price points.

Well, you could have used that argument for NWN 1 as well. I still periodically see the Diamond Edition on the shelves for 20 bucks. I also think there's a slim chance, but one never knows. Not too long ago I would have bet against seeing BG and the IWD series on here.
News to me. I haven't seen it for more than 10 bucks in my area for a very long time, that is on the rare occasions that you can still find it.

Besides, I was more referring to digital download sales, like this:

Good point re the digital download sales. I'm surprised you're seeing Diamond for 10 bucks though. I've seen it once at that price, but that was a sale. Every other time I've seen it around here it's been $19.99.
I would very much like it if NWN2 came to any digital distributor that wasn't straight from Atari. I've stated in other topics that I am not a personal fan of their policies regarding downloads and if you don't back in up in multiple locations (incase a DVD stops working or HDD fails) you have to either buy it again or pay more at the original time of purchase for them to hold your file for an extra year or so.

Of my own personal consideration for what is an "older" game, I'd say it's a little too new to come up on here, but a few years from now I'd definitely enjoy seeing it in the catalogue. :)
I think this game is old enough it is about five years old now, and this site already has Fantasy Wars, Kings Bounty, and Two worlds, all three of them are newer games
If they can get it, I say add it. Who gives a crap how old the game is? More DRM-free games in the catalog is a good thing.
I originally bought NWN2 and Storms of Zehir expansion from D2D when they had it a year ago on sale for $5 each. Sadly they don't sell them anymore, but I can still download my files, thankfully. I did get MotB the other day from Amazon on disk for ~$6. Still waiting for it to arrive though.

But yeah... I wouldn't buy a digital download game from a service that doesn't allow you to re-download at any point in the future if needed. technologically speaking, all that they need to do to do that is flag your account in some way showing that you purchased the software and have permission to access the download files. Not like they have to keep a copy of the game on their server for every person who buys it.
That's Digital River for you (the service Atari uses). As you say, there's no reason in the world why you should have to pay extra to extend your DL time and no reason you shouldn't be able to DL again if you need to. Especially since the bloody thing requires internet activation when you install!
All the major digital download services give you access to your purchases for life... Well as long as they are in business at least.

This is how it works for Steam, D2D, Impulse, Gamersgate, GoG ect... Any company that doesn't do that won't get my business ever. Not when I have so many other choices as to where I spend my gaming allowance.

Egads, those are the clowns THQ uses, too. They charge more for the one year back-up than I paid for the games from the THQ store. >_<
