One thing I didn't like about NWN was that playing an evil character kinda made the story nonsensical. I made a guy who was just completely evil, always saying the worsts responses and whatnot, but all the party members stayed with me (even the really 'good' ones), the NPCs still did business with me, the king even gave me my own castle. Because there's only one way for the story to play out and they have to keep it moving along.
Thats in nearly every game so. And the good ending is always the canonical.
Like for example, Fallout 3. As long as you do not look for your father, nothing happens. What if i don't like my father?
And then there is this guy who gives a sh*t about radiation, who you can even talk about going in there and so.. but no, it's your destiny and stuff.
And while the president wants to kill about everybody, and the Colonel doesn't, you still have to beat him, even if you just want to activate that thing and nothing else..
Maybe not the best example, but the most recent.
Neverwinter nights still might be release here on GoG soon, hold on to your hats gentlemen

michaelleung: Would you guys buy Neverwinter Nights if it came out on GOG? I loved NW2, but I couldn't find the first one anywhere. Good D&D gameplay! IMO, the 3rd Edition rules were the best in D&D.
No, but only because I have Diamond edition already, and have played through the campaign and the two expansions.

I think it would be a nice addition to GOG. Even though the campaign and expansions weren't that great in my opinion, there are LOTS of fun modules the community has created over the years.

I completely agree about 3rd edition rules...D&D 3.5 is my favorite.
I'd just play Hordes of the Underdark. It's easily the best of the official campaigns for NWN1 and is one of my favorites for any RPG. Certainly in my top 10.
