Ive been getting into party rpgs for a while now. I find that rpgs are fun but turn based party rpgs are hard to come by, but awesome when done correctly. When i complete one of the avernum second series games (prally A4) I'm going to definitely get temple of elemental evil.

I played temple of elemental evil a while back and it was fun, but i always made stupid ideas for parties back then and never could successfully make a strong party.

---SPOILERS---- One of the cool things that temple of elemental evil did that i found very innovative was the party members that can join you. I hired this guy zert from a tavern somewhere in the beginning and halfway in the middle of a quest, he betrayed the group, killing my mage in the middle of a big fight. I don't know why he did that, but it was a cool idea to have a shifty character like that in a crag.

Thats a really cool idea to have for a game like that and isn't seen often other than in baldurs gate series. The only real problem is there are so few games out there with create a party turn based rpgs. The only other games that might be like that, are from 2 companies i managed to find.

Heroicfantasygames-Knights of the Chalice 2 (upcoming game) turn based rpg, isometric view, set in d and d universe. http://heroicfantasygames.com/FWE/Pages/FWE_Title.htm

Prelude to darkness-Released Free game with NWN type graphics that plays where you make your own party in a non d and d world. Turnbased with animations. http://www.zero-sum.com/index.html

Those are 2 i was able to find one of which was easy to find, the other was a real bitch to find. If anyone knows any turn based create a party crpgs that i don't know of, id list them here if you can.

SPOILER TAGS WOULD BE NICE!!!!!!
What we need are more CRPGs, period. How many have been released since ToEE? Drakensang? Dragon Age? NWN2? That's pretty much it.

... The Witcher 1 + 2, Fallout 3, Fallout 3: New Vegas, TES: Morrowind, TES: Oblivion, TES: Skyrim, Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, the list goes on. CRPG abbreviates computer RPG you know :-P
My preference is for isometric roleplaying games. Unfortunately the only companies that make them in the present are spiderweb software and basilisk games, Soldak, while i love them as a company, is more action/rpg which is not really the same genre that i like. I still love dins curse or depths of peril every once in a while though.

CRPG means CRPG, not action-RPG with CRPG elements. By your standard, Final Fantasy VII and VIII are also Computer RPGs.

And by your standards, everything is an action RPG with exception of party-based RPGs, which doesn't really make much sense in a game where over 70% of gameplay is dialogue (The Witcher.) If you don't want to be too broad, you need to say "party-based RPGs," because that's clearly what you mean.

Uh, no. Most JRPGs are also party-based RPGs. Games like Fallout and Arcanum were essentially solo CRPGs.

The Action-RPG is a hybrid genre, meaning the games combine elements from both action and RPGs but don't fully belong in either genre. Not sure what exactly is hard to understand about this.

It's like Metroid, which is a hybrid of action and adventure, but not a pure adventure game. To lump it in with Monkey Island would be dumb.
This is why I'm really looking forward to Wasteland 2.

And I should probably finish Baldur's Gate 2 at some point. :c

of course.
I would like another RPG like Planescape Torment (as in its own and bizarre world, nota sequel or prequel).

Well yes, then say western party-based RPGs, if you wish to be that specific. If it's dumb to say that RPG with action elements is a CRPG, then it's also dumb to say that RPG with tactical squad-based combat is CRPG, because it's clearly a hybrid genre between a tactical game and an RPG.

CRPG is a very broad genre, covering pretty much any RPG ever released on PC (why JRPGs released on PC are excluded eludes me, it doesn't make any sense at all.) And when you're using a broad word, expect a broad range of games to fall under it. You may be saying that it's stupid to lump monkey island and metroid into the same category. I say it's dumb to do so with The Witcher and Diablo. Characteristics of a genre don't only cover your favourites, you know.

According to TheFreeDictionary, CRPG can also mean Console Role-Playing Game, so it's even broader :p

ooh I get it, so CRPG is a magical genre, that you can randomly adjust to cover whatever you feel like and then hope people will read your mind in some manner and know what you speak of. Brilliant device, that!

Obviously any game where you gain xp and level up is a cRPG. Call of Duty multiplayer is a cRPG, don't you know? ;)
