Hi I am looking for a good RTS game

It has to have the only army you can build has to be fantasy or ancient which means no moderm army with guns or tanks or cannons. I like the old days wars like Roman time.

Also, has to be very easy to pick up easy to play and get into.

Thank you!
From GOG's catalogue Praetorians is probably your best bet. It's easy enough to pick up. Has tutorials and is about the early years of the Roman Empire.
Age of Empires II

aoe 2 has guns in the game :P
Bombard Cannon, Hand Cannoneer, ships have cannons on them, turks use gunpowder unique units called Janissary, worse there are bombard towers :D

but its an awesome game :)

True it has guns. They are far from modern however.

Hand Cannoneers are archers with high damage / low accuracy "arrows". They do a good job of wiping out melee infantry (which hand cannoneers get a bonus against). They lose to most other things.

Bombard cannons aren't really that powerful either. Trebuchets out perform them in most respects.

Meh, get Age of Empires 1 if these "guns" still alarm you. Age of Empires 2 is better though. Age of Empires 3 is horrible.

Get the copy with the Age of Kings expac as well, it's great. I think actually the 10 dollar jewel case copy now comes with the original game plus expac as well.

Age of Mythology is also a good pick, but I don't know where to find it these days.

AoE3 was fine, but then again, I picked up my copy when it was a dime, so the amount of play time I needed out of it was pretty much non-existent.
Erm...Stronghold anyone?

If he must get it from GOG then Stronghold is okay. Lords of the Realm 2 would be better though.

Crusader was a drastic improvement. :)
I've heard good things about Age of Wonders and I liked both Disciples games.

Agreed, if for no other reason than you get a lot more space to work with.

I like Disciples 2. That's turn based strategy though.
I would recommend stronghold crusader, lotr 2 as mentioned (Available on gog) or perhaps Age of Mythology. If you're looking for something with a somewhat idiosyncratic roman setting then look no further than rome:total war although medieval 2 is better if you would prefer a setting with knights instead of roman legions.
I second Age of Mythology and highly recommend it. It's an improvement on AOE2 and set in ancient times with plenty of fantasy. Unfortunately there is no legal download so you will have to use Ebay/Amazon or your local video games store, but it is totally worth it. In my book this is one of the best pure RTS games and the AI is superb even compared to today's games.

Rome Total War is a great game, it combines RTS with RTT. Not much fantasy but worth it for the experience of creating Rome. You can get it on Steam.

Europe Universalis: Rome is a game that I found unique and enjoyable. It's not for everyone but if it is for you it will change your view of RTS games. There's no fantasy but there is no better ancient empires simulator. Also on Steam.

Dungeons and Dragons: Dragonshard is a decent RTS with plenty of fantasy, its set in the psudo-medieval times. You can get it from GOG.
