I am thinking about buying one of these three game: Baldur's Gate: The orginal Saga, Baldur's Gate 2 complete, Icewind Dale 2 Complete. Which out of these do you gamers recommend? It's hard to choose just one wish I had the money to get them all =]

Update: Thank you all for your help and input. I will be getting BG1 =]

Baldur's Gate 2 is the best of the lot. Baldur's Gate, while recommended for more details of the background and how things led to BG2, is not required for the enjoyment of the game.

I disagree quite strongly, the gameplay in BG2 is better and a lot more fun stuff happens but the story of 1 is completely spoiled in the intro to 2 so if you're the type who plays for the story, I'd say 1 is essential.

Icewind is cool but rather light on story, the up side being that you can create the entire party yourself
Get Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga first. Yeah, the sequel is even better, but playing it first would not only spoil Baldur's Gate 1, it would actually be less fun in itself. All the BG games constitute one continuing story, after all.

Have you already played Icewind Dale 1? Here too, I would advice to play the original first. While both Icewind Dale games are self-comtained and the story isn't as important as in Baldur's Gate anyway, there are a few spoilers and references in the sequel.

You should also check out Planescape: Torment. All the Infinity Engine games are great, really. Generelly speaking, Planescape: Torment heavily emphasizes storytelling, Icewind Dale combat and Baldur's Gate lies somewhere in the middle.
If you want a more story-driven experience, choose Baldur's Gate (must start with the first part). If you want more combat oriented gameplay, choose Icewind Dale 2 (or the 1st one if you haven't played). Also keep in mind that, IWD2 is based on D&D3E and all the other Infinity Engine games are based on AD&D 2nd Ed.

You may consider the time you need to finish the game. For IWD2 you need around 30-40 hours, for Baldur's Gate you may need around a 100 hours if you do most of the sidequests.
In BG1/BG2 puzzles/story/conversation vs action/combat is 70/30. In IWD it's vice versa. I enjoyed BG series and finished it both (although without add-ons) but dropped IWD 2 in Chapter 2 tired&bored of that ‘slashing/magic-sleep-hacking/magic-sleep’ cycle – despite the fact that I like IWD world (those icy mountains, snow etc) more.

While BG2 is technically superior, I love the story, atmosphere, and sense of desperation in BG1. It is an incredibly competent game, your character can port to BG2, and honestly, this was the RPG that single-handedly revived the genre.

You cannot possibly go wrong by starting with BG1.

Grab IWD2 NPCs and give it another try. It really makes a difference.
Out of those I'd go either BG1 or BG2. Icewind Dale 2 I haven't played, but the first one was a huge disappointment for me.
I recommend you buy BG1, first. The reasons are many, but here are a few.

1) Playing through BG1 will give BG2 even more depth.
2) Starting with BG1 will give you an overall impression of WEIDU games without spoilers.
3) Having played BG1, you will be champing at the bit to play BG2, and you won't be sorry.
4) Starting with BG1 will allow you to fully appreciate the other WEIDU games for what they are.
5) None of the above holds true if you make your first game one of the others.

In short, BG1 is about the only WEIDU game you can start with that won't have a negative impact on your enjoyment of one or more of the others. If you don't start with BG1, you will probably enjoy the game you pick, but you may not enjoy the others as much as you would have otherwise. If you are going to get BG2, anyway, try to get both at once so that you can play BG1 in the BG2 engine and continue the entire story unbroken.

Your other "buy one for now" option would be Planescape Torment. This is because PT is so different from all the others. Playing PT is like being a character in a novel. When you play the other WEIDU games, you'll have to keep in mind that they will not have the depth of story that PT has and adjust your expectations accordingly.

No problem. I has the exact problem with Icewind Dale as you.
A bit smaller, but similar project was also made for IWD1
