mx510 / mx518 / G400

I'm just buying the same mouse again and again.
It usually lasts me 3-4 years of intensive gaming (Diablo and alike, SC2, Quake live, TF2, DOW2, CoH).
I've been using my mx518 for about 3 years. It's not perfect but it's a damn solid mouse.

Seconded. I love my beautiful mouse. Better still is the fact that special editions of RUSE include the mouse and are usually cheaper than the mouse by itself. Go figure. Actually, go buy!
I use this mouse and like it, but it does have flaws. For one it's huge, which over long gameplay sessions can cause cramping in the hand for those like me who use the claw grip on mice. Secondly there is some very faint microstutter when moving the mouse extremely slowly.

All in all I still think the G500 is an improvement over my previous mouse, a Deathadder, but it's not perfect.

Indeed. Weren't you the one that pointed out the deal on Amazon when I bought mine? £29.99 for RUSE with the Steelseries Xai at the time ...

Yeah, I pointed that out. I'm glad you like your purchase.

I really should get around to playing that game more at some point too... :D
For durability and quality I too would go for a (higher end) Logitech mouse - in the long run they're cheaper (and you don't have to wait until monday morning to get a new one if it breaks). How accurate they are compared to others I don't know - I'm not a hardcore gamer (and suck at FPS games regardless of equipment - Id rather use my coding skills to level the battlefield (never in multiplayer, though)).

My Logitech MX3000 is so worn now that I had to consult the installed drivers to figure out the model, yet it's working perfectly after 6-7 years. I'm not that much of a gamer, but as a software developer, I probably spend 70+ hours a week on the computer on average (that's about 22.000 hours..). Apart from the batteries being reduced to around 24 hours use before they need to be recharged, it's as good as new (well, a bit more dirty and faded than new).

You can't say no to Razer!

Put DeathAdder together with a Goliathus, and sex will happen!

Indeed. And if you're worried about battery life on a wireless mouse, the M705 is wonderful. I haven't switched the included standard AA batteries since I bought it over a year ago (although, given it's only been slightly over a year, I'm not ready to give a judgement on the claimed battery life of 3 years yet), nor do I even remember if they're chargeable (since I, obviously, haven't had the need).

Might buy my own and leave her guessing, apparently this is getting strings attached, like it now needs to be corded because once upon a time i rage quit by throwing the mouse out the window. (This was about 4 tears ago and that mouse survived)

hedwards: I was wondering how he managed to break a mouse, and not just one but enough to say again. I don't think I've ever had a mouse break in all the years I've been using computers.
A roller or something broke on my first mouse. Then I bought a Creative Fatal1ty, which was a great mouse until the very moment when it turned out to be a piece of shit that broke its left click as soon as it got the chance. The warranty meant I got a new one, but that broke down in the same way. I replaced it with a cheap Razer, and eighteen months later, its middle click began funtioning erratically. Now I have a CM Storm Sentinel, which wasn't exactly broken but its firmware required an update on a 32-bit system. It's worked fine since then, but I still keep the Razer in a box in case the Sentinel gives up (my PC is a desktop, so I can't rely on a touchpad in an emergency). Maybe I just suck at these things.

The Logitech MX518 is the most reliable gaming mouse I know: two of my friends bought one when it was launched (late 2005 or so) and neither one has broken yet. You should be able to pick one up for 20€ or so, so it's pretty good value as well. I wouldn't buy one, because it can only do 1800dpi and because it's ugly - however, the G400 is the same shape (great), it can do 3600dpi (which should be plenty enough) and, at least on my local store, it comes with a three-year warranty. If I was in the market for a new mouse, that's very likely the one I'd buy.
