Starkrun: The team split in about half; some went to Runic and others went to Gravity Bear.
See, the genius behind a lot of games usually comes from 2 minds at a company of 30-50. When they say "We have members of Blizzard North" it could be the coder that was a mindless drone that made the ideas work. Im very reluctant to care about games made by devs from other company's...
Torchlight is a great example, the main mind in that was the guy that designed and birthed FATE, which TL is basically a prettier and better done FATE. Plays exactly the same, even uses the same generator for its levels. The class system and spells were even implemented in a similar fashion. Get FATE play though the main quest and you'll see everything that Torchlight is came from that game.
Now, Crate Entertainment was formed by the 2 Genius men from Iron Lore that gave us the blessed gem that is Titans Quest. There new game in the vein of Torchlight, but darker, bloodier, and sexier is called Grim Dawn; It garners my full support. Details are still being shaped by the
last bastion of the TQ Community. But it'll only take a year or so to see the light of day. They have 100% of all the assets and development tools of TQ, including the randomization code they were originally going to use but pulled for a more linear world with a focus on detail.
I want Grim Dawn to kick ass, in the meantime I'll be playing Path of Exile.
