Hi all, shiny new here and will probably have tons of questions over the next weeks and months over the old games I have and can't play anymore.

1st on my list is MYST, I have all 6 games and loved the crap out of them. But since my old pile died and the new one is Win 7 pro 64 I can't install them let alone play them. I looked for some patches but we no longer have the internet at home and wasn't sure if the vista patch would work let alone how to get it.

Anyway I saw GOG mentioned by an individual talking about the game series issues and that GOG was the savior.

1. Is it true I can DL the games and play them on win 7?
2. Can they be DL'd to a flash drive then loaded into my comp at home?
3. If 1 and 2 are correct what do I have to do to acquire the games?

Lastly I couldn't find Myst Exile or Revelation in the adventure list. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

G.
1 yes
2 yes you just download the installers and install them either on a hd or ram stick
3 you buy them from gog and download them

myst 3 and 4 arent on here they are owned by ubisoft
I'll leave the explanation about win 7 to others, but Myst 3 and 4 are not sold by GOG. Some problems with the ownership/distributing rights, I think. Basically, the companies who hold them can't reach an agreement so they are in legal limbo.

EDIT: Ninja'd

EDIT: Ninja'd
ninja vampire cats man they be sneaky and ninja

but yes ubisoft pretty much owns 3 and4 lock stock and barrel
and ubisoft isnt interested in releasing them on gog it seems
Hmm, I just noticed that Real Myst does not list Windows 7 in its OS compatibility list. Considering that Vista and 8 *are* listed, I assume that's a mistake.

1. In general yes. Make sure to check out the "Works on" info section to see what Windows versions GOG supports. It's possible, with so many hardware-software combinations out there, you may run into trouble, but you can ask the subforum for help, ask GOG support, and if that doesn't work there is a 30-day refund policy.

2. Yes. DRM-free. GOG and we fans just ask you don't share the game around with friends; treat it like a CD.

3. Buy them, install?

Hello there and welcome. Snowkatt has answered your questions, but let me elaborate a bit further:

1. It is useful to know at any point if the game in question supports the OS of your choice. Check a game's page for this information. This is important, because if a game doesn't support your OS of choice, you can't ask support to help you in a technical issue. In the case of the Myst series, all of them support Windows 7, except for the standard edition of Real Myst, which doesn't. That doesn't mean it definitely won't run; just that the GOG staff won't be able to help you in case it doesn't.

2. You can download and transfer them anywhere; flash, HD, CD, DVD, your choice.

3. Upon registration, you will receive some free games in your account. Try experimenting with them by following this guide.

Regarding the absence of the 3rd and 4th Myst, that's because Ubisoft has the rights to those two games, but Cyan has the rights to the series in general. Without an agreement between them, there can be no rerelease. Unfortunately, no agreement has been reached as of yet.

I just tried to buy URU, when I tried to complete the transaction I got a (404 page does not exist now I'm freaking out, this does not look good.

I think the site says I own it but don't know what to do, I don't know how to get back to the window and cancel the purchase and try again

go to your account and check if game is there

if yes, you can download it
Where do I look for it, there's nothing that says D/Ls, there's library and URU is there but so are 7 more games I have no interest in

Click on URU and you will see something that looks like the picture below. Turn off the GOG.com Downloader Mode and click on "Windows Installer" to begin downloading.

The games you see in addition to URU are the free games everyone gets when creating a gog account :-)
Thanks, I was freaking out yest, I ended up asking for help at the library, apparently they hide D/L's in tools and had no idea I was in the process. The thing at the library is you only get 2 hrs at most to use their comps. by the time I found I was D/Ling the file I had 10 mins left on the comp and over 1 1/2 hrs left of D/L time. I'm trying it again this morn to see if I can make time.
