Q. I'm having a problem entering Channelwood. (Myst ME) At the cabin, I light the match, light the boiler, I turn the wheel right until it stops, then I'm supposed to turn the wheel left 20 turns. Does that mean 20 clicks? When I get to the tree, nothing happens. On one attempt the tree moved down one notch then stopped. Need some help on this one. Thanks.

It's been a while since I've played, but once you have the match and have turned on the boiler, you turn the wheel as far as it goes until you start to hear the tree moving. And at that point it should just keep rising until it reaches a maximum height. It shouldn't be stopping at only one click unless you deactivate the boiler.

And I don't think that it should just stay put IIRC when it loses pressure it should start falling back to the initial point.

hedwards, thank you for your response. I have tried different methods, one of which was turning the wheel right as far as it would go, then zero left turns and I was able to get to the tree opening and into channelwood. It seems as if some of the methods are to keep us thinking, and there are other methods that seem to work.

No problem, I should probably reinstall the game as I never got around to finishing the newer version with that extra age.

That puzzle is relatively simple once you get the match.
