It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

TheCheese33: In that case, go IE9. Microsoft have really out-done themselves with their latest edition.
If anything other than FF then I would choose Opera ;)

Stuff: You may already use BetterPrivacy. I have been using it for several months with good results, over 2700 LSO cookies removed so far with no affect on my browsing.
So far I was using only Adblock and Flashblock, but after reading orcishgamer's post I decided I'll try also addons he mentioned: NoScript, Ghostery, BetterPrivacy - unfortunately after reading info about Ghostery I put it out of my decision for now.

But NoScript and BetterPrivacy will soon come to my PC. Any other recomendations? :)

None, I use NoScript as well and recommend it. I do have to disable it before purchasing a game from GOG as it blocks the transaction. Along with Adblock Plus and BetterPrivacy I have been pleased with NoScripts performance. OK, I use FoxClocks too. . . =)

Lexor: Well, Chrome = Google, and Google = google, gmail, youtube, .... I just do not like monopolies. Google has also AdWords and other ad engines, and is one of the main reasons why I'm using Adblock Plus or other "things" like that, so... for me it is a no.

There's an I.....E...9?!? When did this happen?

orcishgamer: On the face of it they claim to avoid behavioral advertising and all the bad crap (...)
Wait, what's wrong with personalized ads 0_o ? In my eyes they make far more sense than the usual "trying to sell everything to everyone" approach...

GameRager: There's an I.....E...9?!? When did this happen?
Since they figured out a way to make it competitive to the browsers of today.

So they basically stole all of Firefox's and Iron's good ideas, then?

Actually, if we're talking pure performance, IE9 outshines most other browsers. It uses your video card for 3D acceleration, which can make sites run better in some cases.

Except for security that is(under the otu of the box config anyways)....and a few other things. Without tabbed browsing(firefox ripoff btw) and some other stuff ie would be sinking faster than prodigy internet and netscape.

You've probably seen Minority Report, that's the endgame of personalized ads. If you think they'd never go that far, turn off adblock or recall all the punch the monkey ads we've had. They also require them to know tons of information about you. I have no problem with that kind of thing as an opt in system, but if someone wants to opt out, they should be able to. Right now you can't really opt out. Few companies care about letting you opt out and it's just not available in any meaningful way. Instead douchebags invent the Evercookie.

I have no idea what you're suggesting here.
Also - I haven't extensively used AdBlock in years, the only thing I'm blocking right now are YouTube commercials...

So be it. GOG also knows a bit about you and uses it to create the "since you liked X, maybe you'd like to try Y ^^ ?" recommendations. Are there really ANY things about me that would make me EXTREMELY upset if even THE WHOLE WORLD knew ? I don't think so.

I don't want pointless spam, ads annoy me only when they're way too aggressive... I'm all for information being "automagically" made to suit my preferences.
It's like when I go to my favorite diner and the waitress already knows which salads I don't like and that I'll have a Cola on top of the dish-of-the-day with a students' discount. See ? I just disclosed some of this information not only to you, but to anyone who cares enough to read it - SO WHAT ?

I think it's the opposite. I'd say that the circulation of ALL KINDS of information ENSURES our safety. You can't just repress people away, as long as the info can get into the Internet, because there is going to be a backlash.
You're not safe when no one knows nor cares about your fate. You're safe when you can be heard and there are people who will listen and care.
I know this might seem slightly offtopic, but I think it may show you a different way to look at such things.

The difference is I choose to have that relationship with GOG, I do not choose to have it with every advertiser.

You do know what punch the monkey ads are though, I'm guessing. They came up with annoying crap like that and force fed it to us, I am certain Minority Report style advertising will happen as soon as the technology is available.

Call me naive, but I simply thought they were the adds that encourage you to click through a (fake) mini-game... Some googling supports that theory. I'm still not sure what's bad about them - I never click them and most definitely don't fill out any forms unless I'm perfectly sure what I'm doing. I entrust my info to Google and, well, no only don't they bother me with spam - they PROTECT me from it via my Gmailbox ;P.

You know what ? At least one good thing came out of this conversation - I'll go ahead and watch the damn thing in the nearby future.
Just... no spoilers, please ;P.
