In a surprise move that confuses the hell out of me, some people announced somewhere that Monday Night Combat is going to be coming to Steam mid-January 2011. MNC is probably the only direct competition for Team Fortress 2, so I'm not sure why Valve would allow it on Steam. Or why Microsoft allowed its exclusivity clause to lapse. I dunno, Google it.

Why would valve NOT allow it on steam? Chances are they've sold all the copies of team fortress 2 they're likely to and by allowing monday night combat they'd gain more of the market (though the chances of major growth are low since the games likely share most of the same fans) and make some more money from the sales

Maybe microsoft have come to their senses and realised they can make more money by selling to more people. You know what that means...
