The World of the Witcher in the hands of gamers.

Andrzej Sapkowski's fantasy saga upon which CD Projekt RED's The Witcher universe was built, consists of five novels. The legend of Geralt, however, began with a 1986 short story. Even in his very first feature, the white-haired monster hunter was already a complete and fully-developed character with unmistakable personality and demeanor. It's amazing just how well the debuting author managed to define the hero and his reality in such short form. This was 27 years ago. Two decades later, in 2007, the world created by the Polish writer came to life for millions of gamers, with the release of The Witcher computer game, in 2011 followed by The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, a game that--according to many game critics-- redefined the standards of world-building and storytelling in the RPG genre. The fantastic, yet dark and mature realm in which Geralt the monster hunter lives, opened up to all of us, and we had a chance to immerse ourselves in it.

This year, CD Projekt RED decided to take things one step further, releasing The RedKit, a complete free creative suit allowing modders to shape The Witcher 2 world themselves, tweaking the game to their liking, and even creating their own scenarios filled with danger, adventure, and that unmistakable Witcher atmosphere. A world that originated from one brilliant writer's mind, is now open to other people who want to play its god. Just a few months later, we have a collection of mods you ready for you to install and toy with (there are even 6 story-based mods, presenting whole new quests and locations!).

The game itself is available with special 75% discount, today only, on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, until Thursday, December 19, at 1:59PM GMT. Be sure not to miss this occasion to experience one of the most succulent fantasy RPG worlds ever created, and maybe even give a shot at shaping it.

5 star average based on almost 8000 user ratings on GOG, a Metascore of 88. It seems not only GOG and CDP seem to be very satisfied with the game. :P

Pretty sure that the vast majority of people would disagree with that opinion, myself included. In many respects I think the Witcher2's narrative and dialogue complexity was paradigm shifting. Sure there were moments where it didn't shine as much, but the gold far outweighed the sludge.

Steal is a word used for its price! so if u grabbed the game at higher cents and dont like it at all...its not theirs fault. it's only yours cuz u dont know about Stories, maybe the only Hunt here is for me to chase this monster. YOU!!

i won't call it a mediocre game ; if you didn't like it fine.

however , i think the "console orientation" is too visible, and some choices are not so good , espiacily the QTE
Roche's side is less actractive in term of quests and the end is just terrible.

but overall it's a decent game, but the first one was better in many aspects imho
