A few breaths of fresh air in The Zone.

Cheeki Breeki, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s! We've heard you're planning on some trespassing. With the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series DRM-Free on GOG.com for only $14.97, who could blame you? After all, The Zone calls out to all of us, promising great loot, lasting friendships, awe-inspiring views, and frequent rushes of adrenaline. The experience with all three of the games, the original Shadow of Chernobyl, the prequel Clear Sky, and the sequel Call of Pripyat is deeply immersive, enthralling, and ultimately fun. Yet, there are no things in this world that couldn't be improved, and for PC games, it's very often a matter of weeks before mods start to show up, enhancing gameplay of even the most spectacular games. Here are the most impressive modifications for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Series games, that we find well worth your time (and the little effort it takes to install them).

When a team led by a popular contemporary artist, the painter Paul Dolgov, takes on the task of updating not only the visuals, but also the inner workings of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, good things happen. With his S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete set of mods, Paul has earned himself a place on GamingBolt.com's list of Call of Pripyat screenshots, or Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky on Flikr.

Here are just some features these modifications include:

- Complete graphics overhaul with hundreds of modified textures, new high-end rendering options, such as ambient occlusion, motion blur, and depth of focus, a re-designed HUD and menus, and even a new particle system.

- Freeplay mode allowing for endless exploration of The Zone, with random, un-scripted events, after the main campaign ends.

- AI improvements giving the NPCs more realistic behavior, so they avoid dangers on their own and--on the other hand--so they don't notice the player over unrealistic distances.

- Weather and day/night cycles remastered to feature dynamically changing conditions, high-res nightsky, and wet surface simulation.

- New sound and music, including over 80 acoustic guitar arrangements that you can listen to by the campfire.

- New gameplay features, like third-person view mode, faction reset option, field repair kit, a sleeping bag and much more.

Head out to Paul's websites for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Complete 2009 1.4.4, Clear Sky Complete 1.1.3, and Call of Pripyat Complete 1.0.2 to learn more and download the mods. Just keep in mind, that those three heavily modify the game, delivering an experience that much differs from the vanilla S.T.A.L.K.E.R. This also means you won't be able to apply the mods to an existing savegame, but start your adventure over after the overhaul. Bothersome as it might be for some, those modifications will award your trouble tenfold.

Admittedly, the mods featured in this editorial, while being excellent impressive work, don't necessarily give you the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience that was intended by the game's creators. Luckily, there's a lot of other mods that update the game without much actual alteration. There are also those that change it even further. We invite you to share your own S.T.A.L.K.E.R. modding experiences and recommendations in the forum thread below!

henriquejr: Hey!

Does some of the STALKER games support ENB ? What games does so ? And where can we download ENB series for these games ?

Thanks!

russellskanne: Yes, but only for SOC. Look here h*ttp://enbdev.com/mod_stalker_v0074.htm.
With the right enbprepasseffect.fx and palette it looks really good. I think I will post about it on the stalker subforums anytime soon and post some screenshots.
Oh please, do that !

phalanges1972: Well dang. I just noticed this was on sale and MISSED it. Thats what i get for sleeping.
Damn. Same here. Feck...

Already have two of them retail-boxed, but had I known they were released here DRM-free, I'd have hopped on -- I wanted -- that deal. These are games worth playing, worthwhile and 'major' releases, For a change. Instead of stunted toy-platform games on rails, and mobile-marketplace indies, and really old farts (wheezing and coughing and hardly able to pee any more) -- a proper release worth a bit a fuss and fanfare.

And it comes in an email titled "Two Worlds series, Earth 2100s series, Knights and Merchants, and other top Topware classics"

(And I managed to scroll past the banner ad-like notice about S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at the top of the GOG email before it properly loaded -- too slow -- so I missed it, too.)

WTF?... Seriously? You have a major release, GOG, and ON SALE to boot... You bake up a juicy fresh cake, and you name the email after... the crusty year-and-a-day-olds?! (What's that, some new theoretical counter-marketing?)

"Two Worlds, Earth 2100, Knights and Merchants, bla-bla" ... (Didn't yer parents learn yous to give yer emails some o' them more relevant-like titles for a 72-hour sale? It's basic email etiquette-like and all, to say nothing of effective marketing.)

No? Dunna likee? Well, OK... Here are some of my suggestions, then, in that same vein, in case you want to avoid drawing attention to your next future major release by avoiding its mere mention in an irrelevantly-titled email:

On sale this week -- yes folks, you CAN believe your eyes!

"Bangers & Mash 2014"
"The Kitchen Sink & the Toilet Brush 2: Throwing It All In, the Kitchen Sink Too!"
"My Family & Other Animals 14: The Tension Mounts In the Soap Buble"
"My Grandma & Her Incontinence,"
"My Granda & His Prostrate,"
"Geriatrics & You: The Fun Begins!"

And last but not least:

"Old Releases Everyone Has Had A Chance to Buy Ten Times Over on Twenty Previous Sales!"

(comes with original Liberace (?) and Lawrence Welk (?) soundtrack, and some other old geezer belting out a super-slick oily version of "Danke 'Shane' " [sic])

Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! [Bla-bla-bla, usual filler and closing.]

Thar ye go! Free of charge.

Bah... I'm outta' here. Gotta blow some steam off in some Turkish bathhouse or some house of ill repute or somethin'...
(Heh, unintended Steam half-pun in there. And another within it -- I'm on a stink-roll: 'Steam pun' vs. 'steam punk.' Get it? Ah, NVM, temps de faire jouir la nana et le zozo, p'is faire dodo -- good night, GOG, and [s]sweaty[/s] sweet dreams.)

THIS.

Dear GOG: Repeat this action soon, plz. With proper announcement. I'll be buying.
I can't believe no one mentioned the grand-daddy of all STALKER mods, STALKER Redux yet:

a) Did you find the game too easy? Redux will give you the challenge you seek.
b) Did you wish weapons were a tad more realistic? (Accuracy, power, etc) Redux got you covered...
c) Wish you had a detector in SoC? Redux had that too...

http://z4.invisionfree.com/STALKERRE/index.php

The mod was ported to all three "episodes" of STALKER, bringing unique flavor to the game sought by those looking for a harder survival horror experience.

jizzmaster-zero: THIS.

Dear GOG: Repeat this action soon, plz. With proper announcement. I'll be buying.
"YUU-UUUP!" But where's the fun in that, for me?

And also: "DANGER ZOOONE!" :D (The fun but crazy quotient/factor.)

"Ah say... Ah say! Are you sassing me, bo-ooy?" On account of TLDR? ;) Or are you agreeing with me? (Or both? :D)

But I'm sure GOG marketing honchos are well aware this was a limited-time launch sale, and they're aware what that implies: namely, that they can squeeze more sales out of this threesome down the road (as long as it stays in their library and doesn't go the way of Fallout, of course).

THIS. ^^^ (Important.)

Anyway -- yes, apart from me going barking mad and being nuttier than a storm-twisted oak (I have the papers to prove it -- forged them myself. :) Though I'm not sure that was necessary, and suspect I could get real ones from a reputable asylum, somewhere, should I need them to prove my insanity -- also unnecessary by now, I suspect :D), yeah, jizzmaster-zero's post sums it up nicely, GOG. Word-for-word.

And even though many of us already have some (or all) of these titles, we're willing to buy them again, and we WILL buy them again. As we have done many times before, for many titles. Rest assured.
Cos that's just how "batty-batty-batty-bat" we are (for better or worse).
And "you can take that to the bank" -- quite literally, in this case! :)

(Edited for brevity -- and good will towards others, benefit of doubt, presumption of innocence, etc. etc. One TLDR 'sharp-tongued-in-cheek' post per thread should be enough for me; mustn't be greedy and go overboard. :))

Don't have the time to write a proper review myself nor do I know if it will even be posted or not so for now have this. Pretty damn old, but it's still accurate enough:

Thanks, I'm looking forward for this. =)
Lost Alpha looks awesome, I'm also looking forward to it.
Having looked into it, there seems to be a lot going on behind the scenes regarding Lost Alpha. o_O

Some testers have decided to ruin years of our hard work and have leaked an unfinished render-test build of Lost Alpha to the public. The beta dates back to November 5, 2013. This leaked version is not finished and not prepared to be released by any means. It contains render bugs that we've been working on since last year among the other ones that prevent smooth gameplay.
It is stolen copyrighted material and it is illegal to download it.
Modders are forbidden to use any of its contents until official release.
Links to the leaked files won't be tolerated here nor the discussions about it. Any support for the leaked version won't be given either.

This unfortunate event crosses out any chances to release LA as an official addon to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. LA will be released as an addon for free.

In this situation we've decided to release the official version of Lost Alpha on 26th of April 2014.
On Chernobyl disaster 28th anniversary you will get the most recent version of LA. It won't be completely finished as we wanted it to be but at least stable and finishing the game would be possible. This can be called "early access", which means patches, updates will be added in the future. If you feel like supporting us, you can donate on our main webpage, just click on the paypal button in the upper right corner of the screen. All donations will be used for our upcoming project, which we will announce later this year.

On this day there will be official presentation of LA in Warsaw during 'Park in The Zone' event.
