Update: looks like it is creative mode only. So there is no mining and no crafting, no animals and no monsters. Also, multiplayer is local Wi-Fi only.

Already brought on Android, been out for ages. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the game, it's very true to the pc original. Runs like a dream on my HTC Desire S (with fancy graphics on) and man, is it an addictive game.

If you were put off the pc version, Like I was, the mobile version could be right up your ally. I hope you guys get a demo version like we did on Android, I can't tell since the link blocks me. Ah well!

I can literally hear KingOfGnG's head exploding from here.

Cool for them. I wish the Android tablets were more solid so we could get some neat-o stuff on it as well (there actually is, it's just rarer).

I'm going to pretend I didn't just find this out from you.

Ya, I have been waiting for the iOS port since the Android version came out. I guess there was an exclusivity clause with someone, somewhere along the line that just expired. And there doesn't appear to be a lite version yet, but I suppose I can't be sure until the American release @ 11PM EST.

Nah, he probably just had trouble digging up the cash to buy an Macbook to program it on.

Or maybe he had to discover the crafting recipe first...:)
How are the controls? I can't really imagine playing Minecraft on a touchscreen.
What's the price on the US iTunes store? At $7.80 on the Japanese store, my only thought is that it's hideously over priced.

$6.99. I just got it so I'll tell you if I feel it is good value once I have a chance to really dig into it.

Well, I've tried the demo on Android, and there the controls are awful, but then I don't see how it could be any other way. It might be playable on an XPeria Play, but it is not suited for a touchscreen (as is the case with most games where you have direct control of a character).

Touchscreen may never equal tactile controls but that isn't entirely to blame for the poor interface. Why would they put the jump button in the middle of the D-pad? This effectively prevents moving and jumping simultaneously. There have been several Minecraftlikes to come before this official release that got it right. It. Just. Boggles. The. Mind.
