I was wondering if the GOG.com staff are still considering adding retro console games (i.e. PS1, Nintendo 64, SNES, Genesis/Mega Drive, etc.) to the games catalogue. If not, why? Were too many key companies opposed to selling their games DRM-free? Was it too cost-prohibitive to create an authorized emulator for x console which works with 100% of all games while still running on a wide range of system configurations?

If GOG.com might see console games in the future, when might we see the first batch? (Although I'm certain "When they're ready" would be the probable answer to this question, but I thought I'd ask anyways.)
I think they may have trouble with this due to the legalities with using console emulators and roms on the PC.

I would be very suprized to see a game that did not already have a pc port.

Then again im no legal expert in any way, shape or form.

What you could do is send GOG an email and ask.

In GOG Question Time - question 2 GOG asked what systems we would want to see games from, stating that "You can choose from: Amiga, Commodore 64, Sega Genesis (Megadrive), Sega Dreamcast, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Neogeo and Arcade".

GOG asking this question certainly demonstrates that they are seriously considering it.
I stand corrected.
It would be nice to see some playstation games from the likes of Square Enix but they probably wouldn't go for it cause when they're used to rereleasing games that young for at least 20 dollars.

That all said, don't rule it out: Sega's been re-releasing their Mega Drive games to PC, and is preparing a Dreamcast Collection in the same style.

You can get FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX for $9.99 each(on psn), so I don't think pricing would be an issue. At least not with those games.

Oh really I thought it was 20 dollars my bad. OK I definitely want to see some FF 7,8 and 9 action now cause I don't feel like buy a ps3 or psp just to download them.

It's only illegal if you don't have a license for it.
Id say the chances of seing games from a Nintendo or Sony console are slim to none since they are obviously keping that to their own consoles. X-box games was mostly released on PC anyway.
Sega on the other hand have already released some on steam so theres a bigger chances there
