Klumpen0815: What kind of layer would that be? SecuRom?

Fenixp: Conflux, another account-based DRM. I think you can create an offline profile, but it's restrictive.
Meh, too bad they don't want my money. :(
Many thanks for the info though.

Fenixp: To be fair, 6 was a much smaller departure from the series than 4 was.
You are right there. I also did not like 4 but at least it did not have the Uplay shit^^

Tallima: I want to see scenarios that require more strategy than 1) make 2 heroes -- one for gathering resources, the other for gathering XP, 2) construct the largest army possible, 3) fight the smallest groups you can, 4) hope you are bigger than the enemy when you meet.

Maybe I play it wrong. But that's the whole game strategy. I would like to see something more. Perhaps events taking place in your land that need heroes, so it would utilize more of them. And maybe fewer resources points guarded by enemies at the get-go to move things along faster.

This guy has at the moment 4 Expert playthroughs of Heroes 3. While he's not a perfect player (he admits not playing it in quite some time), he is a very good player (one of the best in the world and that's not just braging on his part) and I learned quite a bit from his let's plays. For one thing, you don't need a large army :)

Also, for those interested, watching his Arcanum expert playthrough you can learn quite a few things. And this is coming from someone who played Arcanum a lot (me! It's awesome, go buy it!).
I figured I was playing it wrong. :) I'm amazed by the people who can see the ruleset of the game and then just fit the pieces together and make brilliant strategic moves. And then teach those basic principles to make others far superior.

I also enjoy taking simple rules and making complex games out of them.

Thanks!
I have not played Might and Magic Heroes VI, but I have enjoyed all the ones I have played so I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with this time. Of course, as this is a Ubisoft PC game, you will want to read reviews before buying.
After checking the Ageofheroes page I found out an gameplay video from Gamescom: http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/08/15/might-magic-heroes-vii-gameplay-demo-ign-live-gamescom-2014

The world looks nice, the town screen is 2D, the battle map has squares (I prefered hexagons). The adventure map can be changed: avalanche blocks a path, a bridge can be constructed over an unpassable river, water can be drained.

Also Paul Anthony Romero and Rob King will work on the music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyjBp9pmiUI

I updated the first post.
I could wish that it could be as good as the 3rd, but that just be wishful thinking. Though I do own the 6th, I have never got around to playing it. Though anything to do with Uplay.. or uwontplaycausethisfails, I won't even bother. I buy anything that needs it, either screws me around and I can't play it or if I get it to work and want to play muti player it just doesn't ever seem to notice my mates online.
