erm, that tread i seen already, tried everything there, nothing seems to work, and that tread says you have to have a StdMatDX8.fx in my folder, BIN\DATA\SHADER\StdMatDX8.fx (already had it after installation), i even replaced it with the .png file and renamed it StdMatDX8.fx (deleting the default file), i have changed the compatibility too, nothing seems to work, i have tried windows 2000, 98, 95, XP service pack 2, XP service pack 3, all doesn't work at all.

When I received the error you mention, I had to uninstall, reinstall, and patch again.

EDIT:
I know that uninstalling, reinstalling, and patching again sounds futile, but I remember that when I did it, it helped even though it felt like I was doing the exact same thing I did to install it in the first place.

I'm not sure whether I did anything differently when I did this reinstall. I don't know if I tried running the game before patching or did not run the game before patching or what.

I'm not sure then. The problem just "went away" when I did that and when that happens, it's hard to tell why it did not work one time and did another. Wish I could help you more.

When you reinstalled, did you try running the game before patching? If not, try doing that. Maybe the patch expects the game to have run first... I don't know.
erm, my torrent files setup includes the patch, so after installed, it would have been patched already. So i cant do the , run game before patch. i also tried running the game before crack but it shows other errors. Or maybe you can give me some torrent link on the older version?

Oh, I thought you were installing from CD. Can't really help you much if you're using a torrent.
