Wishbone: Odd, I have never ever heard of this game, but the description sounds awesome. Sounds a lot like Hostile Waters in fact.

DreadMoth: It's a bit different to Hostile Waters - Machines is somewhat more like a typical RTS game.

It's downloadable from the wiredforwar.org fan forum, if you want to try it. (the page I've linked to has numerous fixes and mods, some of which are needed to run the game on Windows XP and later. The game files are further down the page.)
I didnt know this was free ware now.

The legality of it is debatable, but if I remember correctly it was discussed at length on the wiredforwar.org forum and it was decided that it would be safe to provide the game for download.. whether this was because the rights to the game have simply disappeared, or the copyright has expired.. I don't remember. The forum hasn't really been active since around the end of 2008.
There was an ex-Charybdis Ltd. employee (his username was jeballi, if you feel like trawling through the forum to confirm what I'm saying :P ) on the forum back when it was active - I think they were just glad to have people keeping the game alive.
