Theoclymenus: How many gamers have actually got a printer I wonder ? How many people even read manuals any more ?

I'm thinking of investing in a laser printer purely to print out game manuals. Does anyone have any recommendations ? The more I research these things the more I am coming to the conclusion that they are a con : the amount you have to spend on inks / toner is sometimes astronomical - a fact well hidden by the manufacturers.
Yes, hence why the .pdf manual has ruled supreme the last several years. Or a .pdf scan of original, paper manuals of an old game, like included in the GOG extras.

I sympathize with your memories of those old, lovely, voluminous and bound paper manuals. The original Civilization II manual? The spiral-bound manuals of Fallout 1&2? Baldur's Gate and other Infinity Engine games? Arcanum? Besides covering game mechanics, all of these lovingly crafted manuals also had extensive cultural and sociological info of the game world you adventured in. A pity those days will never be come again.

Some of the tiers of some of the kickstarter games actually suggested they would be including a printed manual. They are mostly for the collector's edition versions of the game, but there is that.

Aye, true enough. I hope Project Eternity and Torment Numenera have some stellar print-bound manuals.

It really depends how pdf is made. Some manuals are just scaned to pdfs and they are truly hard to read on 6'' ereaders.
On the other hand some pdfs (say Subwar 2050) are just text documents with pictures convertet to pdf (so you can still search txt, change font in ereader etc) and those are more or less ok to read.

I want to buy ereader but I'm on the fence if I should go for 6'' or 10'' (double the proce of 6''). I've read somewhere that Sony is going to introduce 13'' ereader - but how much will that cost...?
