Hello,

Has anyone managed to make the game AZTEC (a Cryo adventure game) work on modern OS (including XP) ? I do wish it were on Gog.

Thanks
Bye
Do you mean this? If so, I do not have the game anymore, but I also do not recall having problems whatsoever playing it on Windows XP. What's the problem?

En principe, il est compatible XP. mais peut y avoir des incompatibilités matérielles , notamment avec les cartes graphiques. Si c'est le cas, le symptômes typique est un jeu qui se lance mais crashe par la suite...
That is the game. And Phc 7006 has guessed that the problem is crashing. If you are correct, then there is nothing I can do to fix it (hardware related issue).

[Sigh]

Thanks

Have You tried using a Virtual Machine?

I dug out my copy and indeed the game crashed (right after the intro, is that what happened in Your case?). Compatibility settings / hardware acceleration didn't seem to help.
It got passed that on my Win98 VM though, but since as mentioned it's probably a hardware issue, I'm thinking having XP on there might work as well, if You don't have a Win98 or older disc handy.
I'm using Virtual PC 2007.
I have never used a VM but I am willing to try with the Virtual Box (which is free)

Thanks
I tried everything but to deactivate the audio and video acceleration. How can I do that?

All from the control panel, Display->Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot for video, Sound->Advanced (under speaker settings)->Performance for audio. (I hope the names are more or less accurate, I'm on a different language version)

Virtual PC is free as well btw.

I tried Virtual PC but installing Win 98 on it seems weirdly complicated (and yes I tried).

I'll try with the control panel

Addendum: It is not working

Guess a VM is the only way to go then...

If You can't get it working on Virtual Box and You're not fed up yet, where's the problem with the install? There's a bunch of how-to's on YouTube like this one you might want to check out if You haven't already. I think that's pretty much how it went for me even though it's a different version.

Actually, I am fed up but only with the VM. I made some research : my win98se cd is not bootable, and considering that users write it gets complicated with drivers, cpu speed, and other issues, I do not have time.

I suggest that you all go to the game wishlist and vote for Aztec: The Curse in the Heart of the City of Gold

Or if there are other solutions, I will be always listening.
Thanks to you
