OK fellas, I stand (at least slightly ;) corrected.

I'm all for new users using the search feature before posting. On the other hand, I myself have several times been the newb posting a millionth duplicate thread, because I really don't have time or some other reason why I can't go searching through hundreds of threads. (I personally usually google things extensively before resorting to a forum anyway, but that's just me ;)

So on the one hand he probably should have searched better...on the other hand it's not THAT hard to simply answer his question again. Just kindly ask him to use the search function a bit better next time ;)

And I'm a Linux guy myself, so the whole Mac vs. PC thing simply amuses me. (Hi I'm a Mac. And I'm a PC. And I'm Linux. I'm an operating system, while y'all are both hardware. Why are we even having this discussion?) Lol!

Hey!! Regarding your question, I asked that question a few months ago directly via email to GOG Support. In a few words, games WON'T BE COMING TO MAC, at least not directly from GOG.

The reason behind this is due to licensing issues with the Publishers (u know, in order to achieve that price, sacrifices have to be made, especially when publishers are "bending" and allowing the no-DRM thing). They told me they were "considering" distributing the games via zip files but it's unlikely (same thing, the exe installers restrict the user base to Windows).

I'm a happy Mac user who happens to love retro gaming and I must say the best experience to these games is with BOXER for Mac. It's the best program to run your games.

Regarding the game installations, you will need to get a Windows PC to install the game and manually get the files, or just use Boot Camp to run Windows on your Mac. Another options might be Parallels, maybe? Anyway, if you already have a Windows PC, it's easier if you don't intend to use Windows on your Mac for anything else. Just the installation is the painful process, after that forget about configuring stuff in DOSBox like most Windows users, just enjoy your game!!

Sorry that nobody was mature enough to give you a straight answer. Some of us don't have the expertise or the time to be going page after page after page looking at the forums for answers.

ROCK ON!!

rampancy: And here's my (constantly updated, as long as I have money) GOGmix for games listed on GOG that work on Mac OS X: http://www.gog.com/en/mix/mac_friendly_gog_games_4
thanks for this one

rampancy: As xyem mentioned, a linux user from the forums is working on an extractor for GOG's Inno Setup-based installers. Until this gets a Mac port, the easiest option for extracting the data files for games for use in OS X (through DOSBox/ScummVM/an Open Source port, etc.) is to use Universal Extractor through either Wineskin or CrossOver Games.
I am that Linux user :P 'pinnounp' is my project.

Also, it won't need a Mac port as it is written in Perl for cross-platformy goodness :)

Wishbone: Here's a small selection, found in about 3 minutes with the search function.

Are these only games you can personally vouch for? Because I've gotten one or two games not on your list working.

Well, yes, I apologize for being misleading; I should say that it's a list of games I've personally tested to work; for brevity's sake I haven't posted all of the GOG games using DOSBox or ScummVM as those are pretty much guaranteed to work. It's by no means complete, as I don't have the money to buy every game in GOG's library to test...

No worries! I understood you made no claims to completeness, I apologize for not explaining myself ... I was just wondering if for those games not your list that I got working, if I could let you know and you would put them up on your GOGmix. That way, we would have a crowd-sourced central depository of GOG games confirmed to work on OS X on GOG which would be a little cleaner than WineHQ's AppDB. As I believe you yourself have mentioned in the past the AppDB solutions are occasionally a little more complex than what the average gamer wants to go through. So it would be a list of games easy to get working on a Mac. I guess that would be a little hard with a GOGmix since one person would be responsible for continually updating it. Also I'd understand if you wanted to just list games that you could vouch for on your GOGmix. However, perhaps a thread would be in order? With a thread, people could just add games to the list at their leisure and the OP wouldn't have to update the opening post itself, people could just search the thread to see if their game was on it. That might be easier to maintain. I believe the Linux users have a similar thing going. I suppose there is also the GOGwiki.
