I missed this when it was released.

The original M1 Tank Platoon was one of my favourite Microprose simulation.

Has anybody play this? How does it compare to the original?
Microprose....

that word for me practically mean: Transport Tycoon

RAILROAD TYCOON. That is all.

I clocked that game hundreds of times. Maybe the only game I have finished at least 50 times - and never WON. I could never get past Mayor.

EDIT: Sid Meier's Railroad Tycoon I mean, not that new one - the new one sucks ass.

I remember playing the first Tank Platoon. I also remember getting the difficulties backwards, and kept playing on "NATO Nightmare". I was young, and didn't really know what NATO was. I assumed that PACT was the force I was fighting for, and so "NATO Nightmare" was the easiest level of difficulty.

I didn't really play MicroProse games so much as I did Psygnosis games back then, at least not until Worms came out, and that was when they had that brief partnership with Team17, if I remember my corporate history.

MAN I still remember when the first worms came out... That was AWESOME. I never really liked the "cutesy wutesy" path they took from 2 onwards, the original was just... So RIGHT.

And yes, Team 17. I always picked the Team 17 gang - Pa Symons, 10Bob Boggy... Damn I can't remember the other two. Good old Pa Symons was always my favorite.
I used to have M1 Tank Platoon. I was more into flight sims, and it was more complex than I was used to at the time, but I enjoyed it.
M1 Tank Platoon 2 was pretty damn good, not THAT different from 1 other than being prettier though

Still an awesome game since it was much the same as M1 Tank Platoon 1.

Damn I wish (the REAL) Microprose were still in business

Yup. Prettier version and quite fun. The defend missions could get hairy while the assault missions allowed you to really take your time.
I really like the first game... not only do you have your tanks but you've got all other support unit as well like Bradleys and M113 APCs plus air support units as well.

Hours lost just playing one more mission.
