sup?
Would like to know whether the lost planet pc ports are worth the cash or should I just wait for them to go on sale?
Also, are there any games similar to monster hunter available on the PC?
I played the original... the PC port was fine if you ask me. Some people were really annoyed it showed 360 button prompts no matter what, but it did that along with keyboard commands. For instance it would show something like this: "Activate: Press E/A" if you get me. Performance was good with some nice DX10 effects, aiming was fine.

The game itself... kinda meh. I have played the first few levels multiple times but never feel like moving on toward the end.
You should try the demo
The first game was alright and plenty playable, but it really didn't capture me in the long run. I wold consider it about average overall. Lost Planet 2 on the other hand is pretty exceptional if you have at least 2 other friends to play it with cooperatively. Not so great as a solo campaign though.

I already played the console version. Just wanted to know if the ports were worth it, since vidya companies are notorious for doing half-ass jobs for PC ports.

Thanks for the responses guys. Guess I'll pass.

I maintain what I said, you should try the demo on PC to check the port

Well what do you want from it? It looks very, very good with lots of "better than console" options. It controls perfectly, it runs well. It's about as good as console ports get really, other than the button graphics which is no big deal.
There's two versions of the original - original and Colonies Edition. Colonies has all the extra DLC the original never had.

So get the Colonies one if you really want it.

Was hoping it would be something like the Gears of War port? Extra missions, community mods etc.
I have Part 1 (Colonies) and Part 2 and I think both of them are very good ports. Played Part one with mouse + keyboard and Part 2 with Xbox 360 Pad, both options are fully playbable.

Oh, yeah it has none of that.

You'd be crazy to pass it up. It's not a port at all. The missions have been tweaked and improved and 3D Vision support has been added. Also, it's very fun.

I've beaten the first game and it's quite good (as a game and as a port...there are some graphical options and the controls feel good, graphics are pretty nice, too), though you may want to just skip to 2 as it improves on everything.
