I'm looking for the best real-time strategy game (or games) that my buddy and I can play over our local network, either 1 on 1 or with some CPU players thrown into the mix. I'm not concerned about the game having shiny graphics or anything; we're looking for a game that is well-balanced, has some depth to it, and is downright fun.

Sacrifice, Empire Earth, Dungeon Keeper 2(I think) and Blitzkrieg.

Total Annihilation + Core Contingency. Mod packs like 'Escalation' make it even better.

Total Annihilation, and once you get bored of that, Supreme Commander + expansion (it's basically the same game with more units and far better UI)
