I've gotta say that C&C is either overrated or nobody is executing it well. Ultimately in most RPGs with strong C&C all choices and possible actions can be easily assigned to one of two or three paths and the right way to play the game is always sticking to one of these paths for one playthrough - in some games you will actually get punishd for not doing so (for example in most BioWare games). And there's of course also those RPGs where you're always encouraged to be the good guy because not doing so will simply result in smaller rewards. :P

From all games I've played only The Witcher 1 & 2 seem to really do it right.

Edit: Oh yeah, another cliché addition to the list would be the Fable series (only two of which were ported to PC).

I cant agree more with OP, I think u played the best C&C games already, complete the list with Arcanum. Witcher is great and has some unique C&C style, but its different. I think you will be slightly disappointed when you play some other title, cause u will expect something like fallout ans stuff .

anyway, go play Arcanum asap :)
I have a feeling You might have heard about it, but can't hurt to mention - Prelude to Darkness.

It's an old, severely buggy indie game (for some that meant a CTD every once in a while, for most a CTD every 15 minutes) but if You're fortunate enough to get it to work, it's got the stuff, at least in theory:

"A complex, non-linear plot with multiple paths and dozens of side quests."
and
"Player choices and character attributes have dramatic consequences on the storyline and on NPC interactions." / "Prelude has close to a thousand characters, 95% of whom will react differently to one or more of the party members."

Not to mention a supposedly original dark fantasy setting and complex turn-based combat system (it's a Codex favourite). Personally didn't get very far, due to, you guessed it, 'technical issues'... have to man up and get back to it one of these days.

The game's pretty much abandoned by now, download links on the site are dead, so just in case, here's some mediafires (there are two versions, the latest one, 1.8 fixes some issues but some people find it even more unstable):

Prelude to Darkness v1.7
Prelude to Darkness v1.8

Thanks. I actually played it years ago, but gave up when it kept crashing. Maybe I'll try it again. I've heard good things about it on the Codex.

Yeah you got it. Twitcher 1 an okay game, but I find that the choices are less personal and more macroscopic in perspective. Same with Gothic - I love the game to pieces, and it gave me many sleepless nights and tired mornings, but the choices are, again, less personal. I only got as far as the first city in Gothic 2 before the school term started, and I haven't played it since, so I can't say much about that.

What I like about Bloodlines, as an example, is that in some situations, if you use Persuasion, you have more options opened up to you, as compared to using Dominate or Seduction. It's the same thing with Fallout - things you do of your own free will, not just when prompted, will come back to haunt you.

TNM has good C&C? I downloaded it some time ago, but didn't get around to playing it. I've never heard of 2029. I'll check it out thanks. Btw, non-C&C related, but there are some neat mods for DX that really enhance the gameplay. I think there's one that lets you mantle up ledges and hard-to-reach places. Very cool.

I thought Mass Effect was okay. Its style of C&C isn't really what I'm looking for.

About TNM, people strongly recommended it to me several times (mainly for other reasons) but unfortunately I could not prove it myself, I haven't the Deus Ex game (although at least could play this true gem at the time). But if you don't find a new game on your taste and turn to replaying one you already have, always is good to have a mod to change or add to its story.

As for 2027(not 2029, sorry), taken from his page (http://project2027.com/en/#/info/): "The story is flexible, non-linear and allows much more exploration than before. The final outcome depends entirely of you and your actions"

I guessed it, but you seem to have played the best games, so I'm lowering expectations a bit *ducking to avoid the rocks*

EDIT: The Drakensang series (Drakensang: The Dark Eye & Drakensang: The River of Time) seems to have C&C too and I think they haven't been named so far.

I'm not a huge fan of the series, but Dragon Age and its sequel should fit the bill. I know a lot of people dislike the second game, but it's got some good - but not great, at least compared to some of Bioware's other games - writing and has plenty of choices and consequences. Not sure why people claim otherwise.

Mask of the Betrayer, as someone already suggested, is a must-play, and has a lot of meaningful choices.

These aren't new suggestions, but consider them a vote for playing said games, yes?
