Painkiller or FEAR.
Most games from HiBs. The best of them: Osmos, World of Goo, Machinarium and Samorost2.
People have said similar but as far as I could spot, no-one actually suggested the 'City Builder' series - I've only played Pharaoh but I found it fun and relaxing, I assume 'Caesar III' On here - and in the sale I believe, is similar
GOG should get more of the City Builder games - yes they should!

Other than that what about Shenmue? Pretty chilled except for the very occasional fight - DC only though, sadly

Darling_Jimmy: Umm... Mahjong solitaire?

FraterPerdurabo: I find Solitaire extremely frustrating. I play it a lot on my Blackberry (got ~1200 games played right now) and 1/3 games can very easily become stuck and unsolvable }:<
Very frustrating.
Really? Are you sure you aren't thinking of a playing card variety of solitaire? I find Mahjongg is often winnable if you pay attention early on.
I always find that in the windows Mahjongg (which isn't Mahjongg at all - its like if a Klondike solitaire game called itself 'Bridge' or 'Rummy') I want to know what tiles I've already removed - I end up making notes on a piece of paper like its 1989 or something!

Oh, does Windows come with a fake Mahjongg? I use a Mac so I don't know anything about that.

Oh right, I was referring to the card variety indeed.
I just wrongly assumed that you cannot use punctuation. My apologies.

The funny thing is I wrote it that way to avoid confusion. I was sure that if I had written Mahjongg, some people would have assumed I was talking about Mahjong.
Osmos :)
The Settlers 2: Gold Edition

It's right here on GOG.
So relaxing that you can essentially leave the game to play itself at times.
Tropico 3.
I mean just listen to the music:

I love every single track in Tropico 3, Tropico 4 however I don't feel the same love.
