boct1584: As far as I know, you don't have to subscribe to Crunchyroll; it just gets you stuff faster and in higher quality.
Yes , but the person asked for HD which the DEMO were and is what membership will give you :

Anime Premium Membership
Support the Anime Industry *
Watch 1-Hour after Airing in Japan
Watch on Mobile over 3G Plus Wi-Fi
No Annoying Ads
HD Quality Videos (720p)
Only $6.95/month!

https://www.crunchyroll.com/freetrial/anime/?from=topbar

So I had to try to find HD sites - not saying that all sites I linked to are , as I wrote then some I didn't find res. info for - but I attempted to link to places either HD (or have HD possibility) or where the person might be able to find link to HD sites.

Thanks for the websites, i took a look but most of them aren't even as good as animecrazy/watchanimeon.

As for crunchyroll, i'm not bothered by ads since adblock takes care of that but apart from the Demo there is no way to watch HD 720p then? It's kind of lame they would charge you for that when just a couple of clicks away is a 1080p torrent. Besides, isn't it illegal for them to charge people to watch Anime when the japanese animators should get the money or does part of it go to them?

Sorry , it was hard for me to find better sites for free....

With respect to your questions then I am sorry but generally I do not "do" much in movies on line so I am not in a position to answer your questions.
I have Japanese and Asian animated movies and non-animated movies but I generally uses DVDs.....
The Full Metal Alchemist is one of the most popular animes ever released (and mangas). There's two series, The Full Metal Alchemist and the Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The former was released in 2003 and departs a lot from the manga (on purpose I am led to understand), Brotherhood follows the manga extremely closely, though I think it surely must gloss over a few details (it's newer 2008 I think).

All of the 2003 series and at least part (if not all) of the 2008 series are available on Netflix instant watch.

Also, you should watch Appleseed... right now, go ahead, watch it, I'll wait...

I didn't see Nichijou (My Ordinary Life), so that gets my vote. If you've ever seen Azumanga Daio or Lucky Star, that's basically what this is. It has a nice animation style to it.

A sample.
Redline , a movie that just came out recently, has a unique style to it and great music as well so you should watch that.

The Tatami Galaxy and Bakemonogatari are both excellent series and have a nice style to them as well. You could also try Casshern Sins and Gurren Laggann since i both enjoyed them with their animation style and fights.
A new series, or new to you?

Just in case, have you watched FLCL?

Don't know if this will be locked in your region, but here's a subbed EP1 from FUNimation channel on youtube:

Crunchyroll is an official distributor.

Ok that explains why they charge then, but i think trying to charge people to watch anime is still stupid since most people watch anime via torrents in 1080p and guess what? They don't pay a penny. If crunchyroll want to incentivise people paying then they need to include much more than just HD videos.
Don't forget, you don't *have* to pay CR if you don't want to. For me, I wouldn't; I'd just wait until a given episode goes free, and the lack of HD does not bother me. But there are lots of people who want to support the anime industry in Japan; Crunchyroll and other official rebroadcasters let them do that. Back when fansubs were the only option, showing monetary support was all but impossible.
In another thread I said full metal alchemist and I say it again but you have propably seen it already. Something new? I got nothing. I suppose I should watch hellshing and evangelion.

Most people can download games for free too. People can download shows for free that are on paid channels. Download regular tv shows. What am I missing here? What makes anime a special case where it's dumb?

$6.95 a month is very reasonable. I don't use it because they don't have the shows I like but for heavy anime watchers who want to watch new episodes almost immediately after Japanese residents do, it's great.

My opinion is, in general lines, the anime is simple and stupid. But there is very good things:

Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
FLCL
Berserk (Manga is much better)
Paranoia Agent.

If you want movies...

Akira and satoshi kon's filmography.

Oh... oh!

I totally forgot... So, dont make the same mistake...

Try Ghost in the shell !!! Specially the second season. The films are good, too much strange-philosophic-dizzy story, but very very good.

Vision of Escaflowne. (the series not the movie) I think it was one of the most beautiful animes I seen visually and audio wise. It also has a good story and action scenes and character development. Probably one of my favorite animes.
Check my anime list!

Especially if you are into romance anime!
