kavazovangel: Mafia series.
Sacrilege, to recommend mafia series when he's got planescape and bloodlines in his cupboard is like recommending picking up a cheap slut when he's got Scarlett Johansson waiting in bed at home!

Fever_Discordia: L.A Noire seemed quite cool plot wise when I was watching someone else play it for a couple of hours a while back...
Actually L.A. Noire's story was pretty bad.
Here is a couple more suggestions, most of these consisting of games that are already localized and sold in English-speaking regions. Non-eroge in nature, these do not feature explicit sex scenes to my knowledge, but blood and violence may abound. (Weird how people demonize the former, but gladly accepts the latter...)

Higurashi - When They Cry
This series of games is all about a small village where an number of deaths take place during the night of an yearly festival. Contains many mysteries, zero gameplay, quite humorous at times - but often descends into an dark abyss of terror and tragedy. There is an number of various scenarios, each using the same characters but different outcomes. Sold by Mangagamer.

Ever 17 - The Out of Infinity
Taking place within the confines of an amusement park, the greatest feature of that place is how it is located on an artificial island, with the majority of the park found deep below the ocean's surface. The two protagonists find themselves entangled in a situation where someone has sabotaged the park, cutting them and a number of other survivors off from the surface. Now they wait, while the station begins to buckles under the immense pressure exerted by Poseidon's domain. This is one of JAST USA's products, if I remember correctly.

Next, I will present a bunch of stories that are fanfiction based upon videogames. While it is true that many pieces of fanfiction is terribly written in some form, there sometimes beautiful gemstones among the debris. These are the very best in my opinion. If you want to download a copy of these stories to your computer, the program *"Fanfiction Downloader" would download and convert them into .PDF files, or other formats. These stories are truly epic in my opinion, though the reasons may vary. All that I can guarantee is that these well and truly represent the games they are based upon.
