If any of you are familiar with a game called "Twinsen's Odyssey," then you know exactly what I'm talking about. While the aforementioned game is the second in the series, both games are equally engaging and exciting, combining a real-time RPG action system with 3D platforming worlds and puzzles. When I first played the game, I remember it being fun, but also, as an inexperienced gamer, (four years old) I was frustrated and annoyed by many parts of the game. As I look back on it, I see how good the game actually was, and I would love to be able to try again and experience it for what it fully is.

Anyone else interested in seeing this game come back to life?
Good lord, it's been a long, long time since I thought about my escapades in IBA. I was only 6 when I played the original on PS1, and immensely enjoyed it. Personally I feel Twinsen's odyssey was slightly ahead of its time, for the reasons you listed. The game itself I felt was satisfyingly hard, with a good amount of stealth involved. The character design was/is fantastic in those games, and they are some of the most creatively inspired games I've played to date.
I'd love for the games to end up on here, but the rights issue is a mess. The second game was published by EA, Activision and Virgin Interactive, in three separate continents. I'm not up to date with the current holder of the rights, but I don't think the issue has been solved.
But, I do have a treat for you. :)

I've never played the game myself nor heard of it, but it looks fun and I'd probably buy it if it came to GOG.

Sorry about the link, the forums are like a pick and mix minefield today, you don't know what bug will strike next and blow your post sky high. GoG seems to think the link needs another set of tags on it, and in doing so, nukes it.

One day the rights issue will be sorted out, maybe when EA comes here? We can hope. :)
