I'm pretty sure there has to be a thread somewhere like the one for recommended freeware games, only with links for recommended (commercial) Indie games; ideally sorted by genres like the freeware list. Am I correct?

If so, could anybody point me to it? Thanks!

Not that I've seen. But keep in mind that GOG's search results are in reverse order. The bottom of the last page will be the closest to what you're looking for.
