xyem: I know you weren't criticising.. I can't even figure out what could have been taken as that anyway :P

I could release a v0.1 with update checking but then what would I get? "Ohhh there's no GUI. I still have to install Perl manually and now I have to install a bunch of modules for it too?! It means having this black box on my screen all the time! This isn't very user friendly!" (see the discussion above this post to see precisely why I expect exactly this).

Now, I could ignore all that stuff (mainly because v1 would be a fully self-contained pre-packaged solution with a GUI front-end and all that jazz) but as you say, with not one single person giving me any "it works" feedback, let alone "good job", the scales don't even balance >.<
