The first piece of concept art for Limbo 2 has been released.

It's not much, but interesting and exciting for fans of the first game.

Wowwwwwwwwwww
Why oh why are they going back to the town?

Limbo was good when it was in the wilderness; the spider bit was wonderful. Once the boy left the forest, however, it became yet another dull platformer with physics. And we do have quite enough of those already; I hope they're coming up with something fresher than that.
Niiiiice! :D

Although it doesn't look too much to the first Limbo, it's a great news indeed.

I actually loved the parts in the town.

This is just one screenshot though, so hard to tell what the exact setting(s) will be.

Oh, sure. It's way too early to conclude anything. I'm happy they're taking it in quite a different direction visually; I just really hope they do something about the gameplay, too.
Lol - I completed Limbo just two days ago, and went looking on its homepage for a possible sequel, but couldn't find any info. Thanks for the link. :)

Regarding the "town vs. forest" bit: The spider puzzles were exceptionally well done on so many levels that the town puzzles couldn't quite match it, imho. I still enjoyed all of them very much though.

It's interesting to note that the game will be in color (as can be seen by the lights in the garage on the screenshot). I'm not wure what to think of it, I liked the monochrome uniqueness of the first game. On the other hand, I can understand that the devs don't want to become a one-trick pony, and decide to develop their style.

In any case, I'm pretty open to a sequel, no matter what the setting or the presentation is. Actually, the thing I enjoyed most in Limbo, was the way how the game made you felt incredibly vulnerable, and yet forced you to approach the danger again and again. This is an aspect that can be preserved even if other parts of the game change.

Personally, the town bits were my favorites. Especially the broken hotel neon sign (I hope my memory isn't playing a trick on me and it was in fact a hotel sign) struck a chord with me and looked really neat.

You're correct, it was a neon sign. The light could even kill you. :)

To me, the sign looked slightly out of place, but not by much. The whole environment (and the transitions between the different areas) had an almost dreamlike quality imho, and in terms of dream logic, the neon sign made as much sense as the spider. ;)

YAY! :D
Definitely excited for this, thanks for the post!
Looks like it's more of a possibly more story-based spiritual successor, apparently the "story of a boy's struggle against evil forces trying to take over the world through questionable experiments on human bodies." Sounds cheery. I'm glad they're not making a direct sequel though, because in my opinion it'd be pretty hard for it to not be a rehash
Limbo... one of the shortest games I've ever played. I don't get it why people went so crazy about it. It doesn't even have a decent story. Only the first part of the game is quite good, the forest.

Industry levels are boring, and the game looses all of it's charm pretty fast (no suicidal people around you, boooring!)

6/10 tops.
