It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

you have the option to activate your license offline without an Internet connection.
How do I activate my license without an internet connection?
You still need an Internet connection of course, however it does not
have to be the computer where Sandboxie is going to be activated.
:D

AndrewC: You aren't entitled to a refund because it's been two years; even neglecting that, most licenses have a provision that state that you agree to all further modifications to it be they made with or without your prior notification. This means that they can change the activation method (as is your case) without you needing to agree to a new license.

Also, lifetime license refers to the lifetime of the product and not yours ;) This is what most people don't seem to get about those kinds of licenses. So when the their servers are inaccessible it means that the lifetime has expired and your license is invalid.
The product is still being offered and licenses can have all kinds of provisions that aren't enforceable. The company is shady and I wish the OP would post their names so I could avoid them. I know it's not SlySoft as my old keys still work with their software.

I think that company did materially change your contract without your consent. If I were you I'd tell them that you will be serving their agent in your state with a small claims suit for the amount plus your time. Ask them if they'd like to consider refunding your license cost instead. If not, sue them for the license plus 50 or 100 bucks (whatever your time is worth, I guess, be reasonable) and recoup your investment. Also, if you do sue, please blog about it (just facts or opinions, no opinions stated as fact, which could be construed as libel) and let The Consumerist or some other big consumer website know.

I did in my previous post, or at least, I (accidentally) quoted the name of the software. I avoided naming it so far to get just opinions and such about the situation, without bringing any opinions about the software itself (which is great) into the discussion.

I agree. Previously, my license unlocked the functionality directly within the software, now it grants me a (90 day, apparently) product key which unlocks the software. This is why I regard it as a change which voids the contract. I used to be able to continue to use the software if they went under, which was a key part in my decision to purchase the license, and now that is no longer possible.

I think the best way to "thumb my nose" at them, would be to develop my own "version" which performs the same functionality.. and release it for free :)

Ah Sandboxie, and they've been getting so much good press on Slashdot lately. I guess it's time to nail them to the wall.

I'm a software developer and I think that Sandboxie dev is an ass.
