Lou: What is nice about the old games is you can find compilation GC discs and play them on the Wii. You can play them all on the newest system right on up thru Skyward Sword.

SirPrimalform: No, you could play every single game up to Twilight Princess on a GameCube if you had a GameBoy Player addon, but you can't play them all on the Wii.

The Wii can't play Link's Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons or Minish Cap.

Profanity: Actually, at the moment I'm trying out the beginnings of Ocarina of Time, NES ones, Link to the Past, at the same time. The NES ones seems a little... old old straightforward slasher. Link to the Past seems to be done nicely aesthetics-wise, and is quite fun. And it feels weird playing Ocarina of Time, yet it's quite fun too. Just got the Hyrule Castle, now off to play an unrelated game.

SirPrimalform: Nice choices! I find the original weird to control the most because of the lack of 8 directional movement. When you finish LttP (if you liked it) you should give Link's Awakening a go. It's the 'direct sequel/side-story' counterpart to LttP and borrows a lot of gameplay from it.

Link's Awakening is to Link to the Past, what Majora's Mask is to Ocarina of Time.
Was not talking about hand held games - to which you are correct all others can be played on then Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

My first Zelda was Link's Awakening so I tend to value the hand held games as much as the console ones. ;)

Landeril: And Do not play Majoras Mask. Ever!
In it's defence, Majoras Mask had some enhancements over Ocarina of Time such as detailed NPC schedules (to take advantage of the Groundhog Day scenario). And while it had far fewer dungeons it also made you work harder to get to those dungeons. This is opposed to Ocarina of Time where, once I got to the future, I felt I could almost walk straight to the next dungeon after finishing the current dungeon.

Majora's Mask's only real crime was its blatant recycling of assets from Ocarina of Time.

As for the CDI games, the Angry Video Game Nerd can probably explain it best. YouTube poops are also a good reference.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I thought the Oracle games were very worthy follow ups to Link's Awakening, even if they did reuse a lot of assets like MM (I don't see this as a problem really).

You might be able to find it on eBay?

BananaJane: Play them all but skip the N64 and handheld ones

mrcrispy83: :(

Link's Awakening is one of the best, OoT and MM are both excellent, and the Oracles are very good.

The others are still at least ok.
I forgot about those, I take back what I said actually

I thought the world had agreed that those games never ever existed....
