Here's the story. Original KODP was written in obsolete-by-now language OPAL. It's 16 bits only. It doesn't compile anymore.

IPhone version is a complete rewrite from a scratch.
This is from their blog:

"King of Dragon Pass has three parts: the game engine (written in C++), interactive scenes (written in our custom scripting language, OSL), and UI code (originally done with mTropolis). It’s the UI that needs redoing for iOS."
I do believe I've seen the game floating around on abandonware sites before, so bringing a DRM-free version of the game would be far from impossible.
