RWarehall: who's to say one doesn't fall slave to one's Patreon supporters.
I think Patreon supporters are usually a too diverse group of unrelated members for this to happen, at least in case of someone as popular as Jim Sterling.

OK, I've since had a look and you are right. I'm also rather confused why that site has that name :)
Holy crap, over $7,000 a month for ranting about video games online?

He's actually one of the more prominent game reviewers, trustworthy to many (but with biases of his own, like every reviewer), and has been doing so for quite a few years and was lead at both Destructoid and Escapist (traditional full reviews, not first impressions). He's just more known for his Jimquisition shock-jock-ish video series in which he plays a persona of himself.

Same here, but it's pretty hilarious that it does.
I just saw this thread. I threw in for a couple bucks a month for him just a few minutes after he shared the Patreon on Facebook. My first use of Patreon. He really is my favorite vidya games journo.

He sure makes a lot of dosh.

I got introduced to Jim through Jimqusition a few years ago and loved him ever since. His best work is definitely Podtoid and the Dismal Jesters where he plots things to do with Jonathan Holmes for 2 hours (turn him into a living candy store, open a Western themed brothel in his house, and make him a Cenobite from the Hellraiser franchise) as Jon desperately tries to turn the subject to videogames.
