duragon: My hobbit name is: Frodo Hlothran
Your surname, Hlothran, is from: The Westron form of Cotton.

You share your first name with this hobbit:
Frodo Baggins: (2968–?) Frodo is the adoptive heir of Bilbo Baggins. Frodo's parents Drogo Baggins and Primula Brandybuck had been killed in a boating accident (boating being an unusual activity for hobbits) when Frodo was 12; Frodo subsequently spent the next 9 years living with his maternal family, the Brandybucks in Brandy Hall. At the age of 21 he was adopted by his cousin, Bilbo, who brought him to live at Bag End. By coincidence he and Bilbo shared the same birthday, the 22nd of September. It was Bilbo who introduced the Elvish languages to Frodo, and they often shared long walking trips together. Frodo came of age (at 33 years old) and Bilbo left the Shire for good on his one hundred and eleventh birthday. Frodo inherited Bag End and Bilbo's ring, the One Ring of the Dark Lord Sauron, and undertook a quest to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom.

Frodo Gardner: (F.A. 2–?) Second child and first son of Samwise Gamgee and Rose Gardner. Frodo Gardner had at least one child, his son Holfast.

...

Hee, just call me Frodo :D
Neat! I'm a mild Lord of the Rings fan and I never knew this! Was always curious how Frodo ended up in the care of Bilbo. Anyone know where this information comes from? I've read The Hobbit, LotR and Silmarillion but never came across this info before (nor the stuff from a later post about the lineage of the dwarves of Khazad-dum post-Thrain I). Is this stuff "cannon" and if so anyone know what book I could go grab from the ol' library? Wouldn't mind spending a few summer nights getting lost in some Tolkien of which I was previously unaware!

I don't have time to roll my character - clearly I have to go back and read Fellowship!
