All the, *ahem*, "old games" sites that I've visited (I won't name them here) say that this underdog is still for sale, probably because of that stupid, outdated "Epic Classics" site is still up and running, even though no operators are standing by. I mean, more than a few games that are "for sale" on that site have since been released as freeware, like OMF 2097.

Does anyone know the status of this game? It was developed by Chaos Works and published by Epic Megagames in 1996.
If it was freeware, more people would have heard of that.

Anyway, this list seems to be relatively complete: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_commercial_video_games_released_as_freeware

Edit: Hey, looking at that list it seems Xargon has been freeware for a couple years now! Now that's definitely something worth looking into...

Played it. Beat it. Thanked God cheats were available. (I was practically cruising along just fine on Normal difficulty, moderately challenged. You know, not too hot, not too cold. And then I hit the Reactor levels. They wouldn't have been so bad if those flying spheres didn't respawn five times every second.)
