XBox 360 games still have PAL or NTSC on the back, I think you'll need the correct TV for each game. Perhaps it's just labeling and the the engines on the game discs will support either or, I really don't know.

I suppose I should figure that one out as it will tell me what's worth dragging to Europe if I go.
If the TV was made in the last 15-20 years it should be fine as far as NTSC/PAL compatibility goes, if its an LCD then that changes things significantly and can almost be guaranteed to work since its pretty much just a monitor and even the shitty cheap ones are better than CRTs.

I didn't know that, good to know.

orcishgamer: Yeah I looked at that chart, but I was too distracted to ascertain exactly which 160GB model the fluff on the Amazon page was describing. Thanks to all those who replied:)

reaver894: Did you see the Final Fantasy 13 one that they want 870$ for what a joke.
Yeah, the hoarders are ridiculous with their prices, especially for a crappy 20 dollar game bundled in. I don't give a crap what kind of faceplate you get.

Seriously you could get a sticker and print a good picture onto it, scalpel out the white parts and stick it on el cheapo PS3. VOILA!
Sorry, I seem to have misunderstood the question. :(

trusteft: semi random question,
do PS3s (and Xbox 360s) work in all regions with local TVs?
The question is really less "the console" and more "the game" (hurr). Broadly speaking, if you buy a PAL console you have to buy PAL games for it. Although I've heard the PS3 may be an exception, I don't know since I haven't researched it too much.

Buy a converter, they're dirt cheap.

I'm not sure thats the case anymore, I've bought games from all over the net, some ntsc some pal and my TV never changes modes and I've never had an incompatibility and in over 50 games and with my usual shitty luck I'd have hit one by now

the_voivod: Definitely better for compatibility, but as for CRTs I love the ones I have and am using them as long as humanly possible.
You're not one of those weirdos who thinks vinyl sounds better than CD are you?

Could be that or it could be that it's pretty hard to find 1200 vertical now days. IPS panels actually look better than CRTs these days though.
@Aliasalpha

Vinyls DO sound better than cd's, if a lot of things are true: the original recording was high quality, the player is not old, the quality of the vinyl hasn't degraded a lot with scratches etc. Vinyls are more accurate by definition. Most of the records I've listened to were full of scratches, but I've heard a few that blew me away. I dare you to pit a scratched up vinyl and a scratched up cd of the same recording head to head ;)

You forgot one, your vinyl was near the beginning of the plate/stamp lifecycle. Because those plates do wear out and the last 1/3 of vinyls that come off aren't nearly as good.

Vinyls may have more information than a CD (in some cases), but that doesn't mean one is able to reliably detect the difference.

I've sure as hell never noticed any except that CD is clear of that faint scratchy noise

Pretty sure it's the case for the 360 and the Wii, at least. As I said, the PS3 may be an exception.
