You know, like in Stereomix, for recording demo vids w/ commentary. The MIDI/FM Synth volume is as low as it can go and it still overpowers the guy's voice a little.

Did you try to play midi not directly but via software synthesizer like decrbed in this thread http://forums.scummvm.org/viewtopic.php?t=6303
and than play with volume settings?
