GOG could always compensate the users for using their forums :)

tfishell: So this thread got me thinking, although I admit people tend to complain too much even as GOG gives away games like Empire Earth and Fallout, some kind of reward system might be nice, as an extra, small "encouragement" to purchase games and a "thank you" to those who purchase so many. (I mean, various people have purchased 50+, 100+, and 200+ games from here. I think a few have even bought nearly the whole catalog.) To me it seems like the GOG team should seriously consider implementing some sort of reward system ("Goupons" :P). Maybe certain percentages off the next purchase after a certain number of games purchased (like 25% off the next purchase at 25 games, 50% off at 50 games, etc.; those percentages could be "saved" for later.)
Personally, i would much rather have more bonus materials with our games. i.e. Gothic 3 with no soundtrack leaps to mind.
1. The games already are really cheap, and they even offer promos every week for selected games.
2. From time to time they give games away for free.

I think those two things are enough. But people still want more? Maybe you should think that instead of offering discounts for "heavy users", they're expanding their offers to everyone instead, and not just you. They're giving a thank you for everyone at the same time regardless of the amount of games the user's bought.

Seriously, I find it a little bit funny when people, who have bought tons of games, suddenly feel like they should be awarded "for their loyalty". You bought the games yourself, no-one forced you - you got games of your desire for very little money, but still want compensation - but you would never walk into a supermarket and ask the cashier for a free basket of food because "you come there all the time". Reality check, people.

(also, GOG is still a business; why should they give you stuff if they can't make money that way. Like someone already wisely said, the users who own lots of games are already hooked and will continue to buy games, with or without special offers. Therefor they will focus on acquiring new customers, which is the rational thing to do business-wise!)

I believe certain supermarkets and other business chains reward loyalty with something similar to "points" you can accumulate, and if you do x amount of business you can receive x amount off your next purchase. I'm not saying loyal customers shouldn't continue to have to pay money, but I do feel like some kind of reward system would be a good idea.

By the way, I've only purchased about 15 or so games from GOG, so this is NOT for me. I'm bringing this up for those who have (as I said earlier) purchased 50, 100, 200 or more games (especially if many were not on sale), those crazy amounts.

I think GoG should reward customer loyalty, not based on how many games they bought on GoG, but on how many games they didn't buy on Steam.

Hah.
Well, I think that GOG does somewhat reward loyalty with "the more you own, the higher the discount" sales.
I don't think there's anything explicitly wrong with the service they provide now. The more you give away, the more entitled people feel. It's a delicate balancing act.
