I typically get 180 to 220 kb per second. I'd like to get the over 500 I know I can get, but how do I do it?

I've observed I can usually max out whatever my internet speed is, up to 3-4 MBps.

I'm not sure. It's not that fast, I think it's supposed to be like 1.5 mbps but I have never gotten that. I have gotten 500 kbps at times with origin, but that's the only time.

Getting 180 to 220kb/sec on 1.5 Mbps sounds about right, I think.

180 kilobytes * 8 bits = 1440 kilobits per second ~= 1.4 Mbps.

You might try http://www.speedtest.net/ to verify what your download speed is.

Then how was I getting 500 that time with origin?

If you are using the GOG Downloader, there should be a 'Settings' button that you can use to change the amount of connections being used. It sped up the download time considerably for me. I can't check right now, cause I'm on a Mac and I'm not using the downloader on this comp.

I always get the maximum speed with the GOG.com Downloader (768 KB/s).

Not sure. Could be several things. What did running the speed test say? "Concurrent Connections"

Mine is set at 6. When I use only 1, I get about 250 KB/sec instead of 2 MB/sec.

That doesn't seem to make any difference for me. Same speed no matter what it's set on.

I had to pause the download and start it again before the change took affect.

Pause all other internet activity, try the speed test, and let us know what that says.

It's 1.5 Mbps down and .5 Mbps up.

yeah. then 200 K per second is your max download speed. the origin might have been a glitch which reported the wrong download speed or it was "downloading" something from your harddrive

Then I'd say that you're getting what you should be and the 500 kb/sec with Origin was a fluke.

You might try clearing your browser cache to fix the "New Post" problem.
