The most bugged game I have ever played is TR AOD, but I still enjoyed it and it is a far from new title so unfortunately, it's just you. :D

Time filters out the least memorable, run-of-the mill productions of an era, whether it's litterature, games, movies, music, etc... This gives us a false sense of the proportion of good stuff vs lame stuff in the past.

XD Did you read the post? :P I said I enjoyed it. Of course for me a bad TR game is still a great game. The only thing they could do with that series to stop me from playing it is to stop making them.

Trouble is, save-anywhere is as prone to causing bugs as it is to solving problems caused by them, if not more so. Because a developer can choose a checkpoint, they can make it one where nothing is going on and thus the save file won't have to take into account things like the number, health and such numerical values, location, direction, speed, attitude, animation or upcoming actions of the AI - shit that makes the quicksave function in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games (among others) produce some truly bizarre results.

Well said! Also throw into the equation, the not so long deadlines the pubs set for the devs to make the game (and this leads to unfinished games) and of course, the habit of some devs/ pubs to sell bugged games and let the modders fix them...

Not only that, but many new games lack basic customization options that old games had, like fully customizable controls and hud options.
A lot of new games lack support for mods too.
