Lexor: I can understand that purchasing additional servers to increase whole "server power" just for "one time" is not really profitable business. But are there any worldwide brand known solutions to increase "server power" just temporary?
Some companies rent additional server capacity to handle peak loads. They don't actually buy and install the servers. Not sure if GOG does this.
Has GOG actually a patching plan for that game? There are bound to be several patches in the coming weeks and it's not really economical to download the whole thing every time.

ovoon: Wait... Legend of Grimrock is really that big of a deal? More so than the Witcher 2? I don't understand.
To Lexor it clearly is, and more power to him, but for the internet at large, probably not so much. If GOG servers survived TW2, they definitely are going to survive LoG.

[Sorry, Lexor, but you really are kind of obsessed with the game :)]
@spindown & jamyskis: thank you for reply :)

It is a good question - but if patches will be also in standalone versions I can't see any problems.

I guess they will do it the same way they did with Witcher 2. First few days (weeks?) of the patch coming out they will be offering the patch as an extra, then once it gets a bit calmer patchwise they'll integrate it in the main installer. So if you want the patch the day it comes out, you download just the patch, while if you want the patch a month later, you'll have to download the whole game from scratch (or find the patch somewhere else).

Well, let's see what will happen at 19:00 my time :D Maybe if I am "the only one" it won't be so bad. ;)
Answer is. They would have learned when TW2 was released. Having said that, ill most like either be asleep or getting ready to go to work, so will miss the download action at release time :P

I'd rather like to know whether more people preordered here or from AH, and how large the difference is. I'm in the latter camp, and going to milk the bountiful udders of Valve as soon as I get home, so I'm not going to disrupt your GOG download experience :)
Was there a problem with Witcher 2 launch? I think not.
We'll be fine;)

spindown: GOG doesn't use their own servers for hosting content. I believe they are using EdgeCast - so they can probably rent extra servers temporarily, if necessary. Other well known content delivery networks are operated by Akamai and Amazon, for example.
This - with one small clarification.

Generally, when using a CDN (Content Delivery Network) such as EdgeCast, there is no need to rent extra servers. You do not have a bunch of servers with your name on them. They store your files 'somewhere' on their network and you neither know nor care where. You just pay for the bandwidth used.

Lexor: It is so highly anticipated game that I'm a little worried...
They survived free Fallout, didn't they?
I already got cakes, chocolate, tea, and other treats for my guests. And yeah, people are coming over at 7PM to see it. I hyped my friends too much. ;D

Well, the site got hit badly, but that's separate from the download servers. I don't know how those fared, but I'm guessing much better -- after all, I'm guessing a rather small percentage of those who rushed in to grab the free copy downloaded it straight away.
