Because I have a question about it and don't know who else to ask. I've noticed that apparantly there are some optional puzzles and you can just run past them to the next section without solving them, but when you're in the next section, often there is no way back. Is there any way to return to these optional puzzles later on or are they lost to you if you move on too fast and as a completionist you should try to solve all puzzles as soon as you find them?

Normally you should be able to return, given the option to skip. I played the game, but not to the end, not yet. I also found this post, which indicates that you should be able to return:

Hm, that's not a definite answer for all the puzzles though. I passed some and the game saved at my new location which doesn't allow me to go back a screen (although there are no clear obstacles that would prevent me, logically). I can return to the workshop and enter the factory again, but that will just bring me to the same point where the game saved the last time. I wonder if it's only a temporary thing and there will be a comfortable way to revisit old locations or if it's a missed opportunity to get upgrade material (and the latter thought partly spoils the fun I've had with the game so far) ... :/

Where were the puzzles you missed? If memory serves, once you get to the factory you can't go back, but I could be wrong.

I think when you are at the factory you have a little more freedom to go back and forth in the areas after the factory, but not a lot.

Sorry, that doesn't sound too helpful...

In the first factory. Before, the game was fairly linear, solve one or three screens before you can move on, but in the factory where you experience lava for the first time, there are a few puzzles you can just pass by, one without apparent function, the other with a plasma or whatsitcalled reward for upgrading your gear (I had to solve it partly in order to move on, but I didn't manage to get to the reward yet).

Sorry mate, its been so long since I played it, I can't remember.

I think there are doors from the factory that allow you to go back to those levels. I think the remain open. I think...
