Does the Gog games and the older ones can be played with Intel HD 4000 graphics ? sometimes i read that the drivers of this internal graphic chip are not as good as the amd graphic drivers of Trinity.

I´m thinking about buying a new laptop with internal graphics and the power for the older games is enough.

Thx
chendal
I Read wrong as well, you want a laptop. Not much i can suggest here except desktops have better price/performance.

Oh wait I read that wrong.

The problem with the Intel GPUs is that in many cases it's lottery if it works well or not (talking about the 3000er series). Most older games should work without a problem, but especially some games using opengl are problematic, because intel doesn't have full support (as example Minecraft or Eschalon). They games will run very likely, but the performance is in some cases really bad. Intel improved the compatibility of their gpus over and it gets really better, but still the main focus is not on gaming and so if you want to play also newer games and want to be sure to run every game you should choose another notebook with an ati or nvidia graphics accelerator) If you just want to play some games on the road and need the notebook mainly for work it could be fine.

Edit: I can't compare between the trinity and the intel hd graphics, but I would say the differences between the chipsets at all (amd vs. intel) are more relevant then between the two gpus. So, ask yourself if you want an amd or intel notebook, then rethink if the onboard-gpu is enough for you or you maybe want a notebook with a dedicated graphic card from ati or nvidia.

Thank you very much. so i´ll choose a solution with dedicated grafic. I had problems with intel hd 3000 too, for example the whitcher didn´t start.
So i thought with HD4000 Intel would be little better...but i do no risk. I choose a dedicated grafic or trinity APU

Thx for your information

For Witchter there are in the official forum some tweaks described in the official forum. I tried it but the game looked too stripped down and the performance wasn't still good enough for me.

I thought laptops with Intel integrated graphics were a fairly rare breed nowadays. Why don't you get one with ATI or NVIDIA onboard? They're not expensive, comparatively speaking...

That chip would be fine in a laptop to play old classic games. I've actually read some good thing about the new chip. For new games i'd still go with a descret video card.

Well over half of both laptops and desktops have Intel integrated, and the share is rising, not going down...

But yeah, dedicated or amd integrated would be better bets for gaming.
Speedwise HD4000 is decent low end and should be fast enough for most older games,
but as for compatibility with older titles... dunno.

Thank you for all the information. I decided to choose a laptop like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-S875D-S7239-17-3-Inch-Mercury/dp/B0084830AW

I read a lot about trinity the last days...the A10-4600m with its integrated 7660g AMD Graphics has more then enough power for me.

http://www.notebookcheck.net/Trinity-in-Review-AMD-A10-4600M-APU.74852.0.html

I´m not a user who need a lot CPU power...i´m a casual gamer who uses laptop for older games...or who playes some newer games (but i do not need every high graphic setting).

I´m from old school...and i prefer to have a laptop who is silent. The most "gamer" laptops are too loud for me when you play games on it...i want to play in silent mode.

And the A10-4600m has 35 watt TDP for CPU AND GPU...and it has as much graphic power as a new nvidia 630m dedicated gpu. Thats for my things enough...i can play every game i like with this gpu power. and in summary i have less tdp instead of Intel CPU AND Nvidia or AMD dedicated GPU together.

And the 17,3 " Toshiba is thin, has blu-ray integrated and is not as heavy as a 15 " dell laptop '(e.g. dell xp15 has 200 gramm more weight and costs 1000euro more). so the laptop is little mobile with 2,7kg and has a good great size :) and costs only 593 euro

i need a big picture...i´m not a user who likes to play on 13,3" ultrabook or so...i have glasses so i need big pictures :) For example the Asus ux31a is a great laptop with full hd screen and so....but i cannot read anything on this screen...all the letters are too little for me.

Seems like a pretty sweet package. Inexpensive as well, considering all that's included.

Thanks, but what i saw is: the description in amazon is wrong, it´s really a a10-4600m with 7660g graphics.

They write a10-4600m with 7640g...thats wrong :)
and some rows below they write A8-4500m with 7660g...thats wrong too :)

A A8-4500m Trinity has a 7640G integrated graphic. But this is a different Toshiba Model and its cheaper:
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L855D-S5242-15-6-Inch-Mercury/dp/B008482XOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343976509&sr=1-1&keywords=Toshiba+Satellite+L855D-100

The A8-4500m has also 35 Watt TDP but has less power then the A10-4600m...so i would recommend to buy the A10-4600m instead of A8-4500m

And one thing is interesting:

The A8-4500m still has little more gpu power then the intel 4000

Intel 4000: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-HD-Graphics-4000.69168.0.html

7640g: http://www.notebookcheck.net/AMD-Radeon-HD-7640G.69836.0.html

The intel hd graphics 4000 is good in synthetic benchmarks like 3d mark 2006 or vantage or 3d mark11
But in real games it has less frames due to graphic drivers which are not as well engineered as the amd graphic drivers

So overall the 7640g of the A8-4500m has ca. 10% more gpu power then the intel HD 4000.
The A10-4600m with 7660g ca. 30% more then intel hd 4000 (in games)

But for intel cpu you have to pay more. So for casual gamers like me, the trinity apu is the better product and little cheaper 

So for 475 Euro (my example):
http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L855D-S5242-15-6-Inch-Mercury/dp/B008482XOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1343976509&sr=1-1&keywords=Toshiba+Satellite+L855D-100

you can play little better and cheaper then with each of the Intel processors - for users with low budget.

You're probably correct, but you should confirm with Amazon that you are indeed buying the correct one, just in case. I've seen Toshiba Satellites with the same model number built with different specs, like different hard drives, memory, and such. If you are buying from Amazon, that is.
