Sooooo, I wanted to play SiN on my dads Windows 7 PC (on my WinXP PC, it lags), but this happens it tells me "DirectX 6 is for Windows 95".

So, I set compatibility to Windows 95, still kept getting the error, which is odd, because that fixed it on XP for me.

Now, I tried to copy the game files straight to the hard drive without the installer, now if I have to disk in to play, the game tells me I need to put the disk in.

I tried another method: VPC. THE SOUND IS TERRIBLY OFF SYNC.

Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks =P

its not odd since win 95 compability is not the same in windows 7 as it is in xp as your pc is different too and probably is your directx.

when it asks for a disk then you can try finding a crack for it and use that (yes illegal perhaps but since you have the original disc)

sent you a pm.

I played it not long ago on a Vista 64 machine so I don't think on 7 should give much problems.
Though when you install the game (or any old game for that matter) and it asks to install DirectX, NEVER install it, these are older versions and you seriously risk hosing up your system this way.

Also Sin is very buggy out of the box so you need to install the latest patch.

Well, no, that isn't the issue. The problem is it sends that error upon the start of the installer being 100%
I'm surprised that it runs at all. The game depends upon being allowed to overrun the buffer which is something that modern processors won't allow.

I must take back my previous reply, I think I played it on XP not Vista.

Works fine from here on 64-bit Windows. You did set the installer and not the launcher to Win95 compatibility, didn't you?
Great game.....well if it's the original version(Patched), that is, and not the gimped Steam version(They cut some pics on walls/other content due to licensing issues/etc, iirc.).

I'm sure there is some unofficial patch to get that back. ^^

You sure on that? Just curious....

Otherwise i'm going to hold onto my original Sin disc like it was gold.
You might want to have a look at the SiN Episodes forum on Steam. Plenty of posts about getting SiN to run on Win 7 over there. Perhaps, one of them will have some suggestions for your retail copy.
