Finished Puzzle Agent, and loved it. I wonder where I could get the 2nd one, since I heard the story picks up where it left off (the first one ended in a sort-of cliffhanger); Steam charges 9.99 for the sequel but I guess there are places where it can be gotten for cheaper.

You can buy it directly from Telltale and from Gamersgate, but in both cases it also costs 10$/€. Telltale uses their own drm (limited installations), gamersgate I don't know (kind of surprised there is no drm mentioned). In the gamersgate summer sale thread bansama wrote gamersgate will start their big sale in august, if you patience enough you could wait and see ;-). Maybe gog will add it also very soon, who knows.

Btw about bundles, Humble Bundle is up again and now selling music.

I really liked the game too, but the ending was totally rubbish. And I heard the second part kinda continues the story, but has the same type of non-ending.
It does? That's a bummer. Well anyway, I think I might as well wait for the next big Steam Sale (which will probably be around Christmas) or see if it pops up on any upcoming indie bundles. It's not like I'll run out of games to play in the meantime :) (although I've very efficiently cleared a lot of my backlog this week; I love holidays!)

AFAIK, Gamersgate uses SecuRom on Puzzle Agent (at least the first one). You get an activation key, and if I'm not mistaken you have to be online in order to validate your copy with it after installation. I'd be wary about getting it from GG though. When I bought PA1 there, the GG version suffered from a bug with certain graphic cards that apparantly had been fixed in the versions from Steam and Telltale, but the patch was missing in the GG version.

I told both Telltale and GG about it. GG said they'd look into it (never heard from them again), Telltale replied only 2 weeks later, fortunately by providing me with a new and patched version from their website (if the GG version has ever been updated with the patch I can't say).

Thanks for that information, sounds not really good. I hoped while they went at some point drm-free there is also some hope newer releases are also on gamersgate drm-free, but in that case they maybe would label it drm-free. I really hope the bundle will suceed and let them rethink to drop the drm in their own shop, that would be really great.
I've beaten PA but wasn't impressed. There's not much of a difficulty progression, the game runs quite slow for its graphics design, and the right/wrong/rating screen is just POS. Every single time you have to watch the mailing and stamping animation. I've had a more fluid experience playing a Prof. Layton game emulated on a netbook.
Not really interested in the games, but I am interested in the bonus chiptune album. Anyone want to share? :)

Well, I only tried PA1, no idea about PA2.

What's weird though about Gamersgate is I once asked an indie developer why they chose to go with DRM on Gamersgate and they said they thought that was up to Gamersgate, that GG had added their own DRM to it. They didn't even know they could offer the game DRM-free, at least that what he told me. Shortly after, they found out that Gamersgate Securom DRM seriously messed their game up, slowed it down or something (which doesn't seem all that uncommon, I had the same issues with Avadon), and now it's DRM-free on GG, too.

It sounded as if GG uses Securom for all unprotected games by default, unless you explicitly tell them you want to offer yours DRM-free. Not sure if that's true, I just found it surprising.

In fact, the DRM Telltale uses for all its online games is Securom. It used to be with serial keys but now they have their own launcher for the games that asks either for a serial or for account information.

Their disc releases used to be drm-free (except for Wallace & Gromit).

I know from experience that the Sam & Max Season 1 DVD I picked up at Microcenter in 2008 has Securom.

On a completely different note, has anybody tried the Super Space Rubbish game from IR rewards collection? That's one hard Asteroids w/upgrades! Mess up the upgrade path, and you're toast. Plus you only get 3 lives, and have to kill the game and load your start-of-level autosave to avoid losing them when dying.

Yes, there's a catch. I am talking about Telltale disc releases which are the DVD they send themselves for free when you buy a season on their store. Regular retail releases are handled by others and there can be DRM.
